Role Description The Senior Relationship Manager, FI Banks Coverage (Africa Region) is a full-time, on-site role based in Accra. This position is responsible for originating, developing, and managing strategic relationships with financial institutions across the African region, including correspondent banks, payment partners, and liquidity providers. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, negotiating commercial terms, and driving revenue growth through cross-selling Monfi’s digital banking, payments, and multi-currency solutions. The Senior Relationship Manager will monitor portfolio performance, manage risk and compliance requirements, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and internal policies. Day-to-day activities include stakeholder engagement, market and competitor analysis, preparation of proposals and presentations, coordination with product, risk, and operations teams, and ongoing relationship maintenance to deliver high service quality and sustainable partnerships.
Qualifications

  • Strong relationship management experience with financial institutions in Africa, including originating, nurturing, and growing FI partnerships.
  • Proven expertise in corporate and transaction banking, payments, and cross-border flows, with understanding of correspondent banking and liquidity management.
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance, AML/CFT requirements, and risk management practices in the African financial sector.
  • Experience in deal structuring, commercial negotiation, and portfolio management, with a track record of achieving revenue and growth targets.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, assess client needs, and translate insights into actionable strategies and tailored solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across product, risk, and operations teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, ACAMS) is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in a regional FI coverage, correspondent banking, or transaction banking role, preferably within Africa and/or digital banking environments.
  • High level of integrity, adaptability, and problem-solving ability, with commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory, and ethical business practices.
