Role Description

To be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects. The role ensures cost-effective and timely procurement in line with company policies and project specifications, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and contractors.

This includes overseeing the production process, ensuring quality standards are met, managing production schedules, leading and motivating the production team, and collaborating with other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective production. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Procurement Planning & Strategy

• Develop procurement plans based on project schedules and material requirements.
• Analyze market trends to identify potential suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and quantity surveyor to determine needs.

Sourcing & Vendor Management

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify vendors and subcontractors.
• Maintain and update an approved vendor database.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, resolve issues, and improve supplier performance.

Purchasing & Order Management

• Issue purchase orders (POs) in line with internal procedures.
• Track and manage orders to ensure timely delivery to construction sites.
• Resolve order issues such as delays, short shipments, or quality discrepancies.

Contract Administration

• Assist in drafting and reviewing procurement contracts and agreements.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and specifications.
• Coordinate with the accounts team for contract execution and payment terms.

Inventory & Logistics Coordination

• Work closely with the stores/warehouse team to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Coordinate the logistics of transporting materials to various project sites.
• Monitor inventory usage and reorder as necessary.

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure strict adherence to anti-bribery, integrity, procurement policies to avoid conflicts of interest
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
• Provide regular reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis and supplier performance.

·     Cost Savings:

Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement cost-reduction initiatives.

Any other task as may be assigned from time-to-time

Qualifications

• HND/Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience in similar role, preferably in the construction industry, with in-depth knowledge of construction materials, subcontractors, and logistics to sites.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with subcontractors, and be able to coordinate logistics to sites.
