The Company is seeking to employ a Senior Finance Officer. The successful candidate will support the Chief Finance Officer in the daily activities of the Finance unit of the Company.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial records
  • Perform reconciliations (bank, premium, claims, reinsurance, and commissions)
  • Support the year-end closing and audit process
  • Account for premiums (written and earned) and ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Monitor and report on claims payments and outstanding claims reserves (IBNR inclusive)
  • Manage reinsurance accounting, including recoveries and treaty balances
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements
  • Maintain proper documentation for regulatory inspections
  • Monitor cash flow to ensure timely settlement of claims and obligations
  • Support investment tracking and income reporting
  • Ensure compliance with internal audit recommendations
  • Assist in tax computations and statutory filings (VAT, CIT, PAYE, SSNIT)
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions
  • Prepare monthly management reports and dashboards

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Professional Accounts qualification required CA/ACCA (part 2)
  • A master's degree in accounting will be an advantage
  • Minimum of 6years working experience on the job or preferably from an insurance company
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, especially insurance-related standards
  • Understanding of Ghana tax laws and insurance regulations
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance
