Job Description
Provide competent, professional physical security coverage and response for Church properties and facilities, for employees, Church leaders, visitors, and guests globally. Position exists to promote a safe and peaceful environment in which Church members and visitors can worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances in order for the mission of the Church to be accomplished. This position helps accomplish goals and tasks specific to an individual area within the Church.
Responsibilities

• Exemplify the core leadership pattern talents: Lead like the Savior, Act under the direction of the Spirit, and Align with the brethren.
• Follow local laws and security policies and processes
• First responder to fire and health emergencies. Provide first aid, CPR and/or AED to sick or injured victims. Physically remove victims from harm's way.
• Recognize and manage life-threatening security incidents, including the potential of taking of life or placing your life at risk
• Deal effectively with disruptive or combative individuals. Physically restrain, conduct searches, handcuff, and detain subjects according to applicable laws and statutes.
• Work any shift, location, or assignment
• Professionally provide assistance to visitors as needed
• When needed, call for emergency response
• Actively patrol facilities and grounds
• Maintain a daily log and communicate safety and security issues
• When necessary, complete reports in the Church Security online reporting system (SIR)
• Complete assigned security training and re-certifications
• Maintain a basic knowledge of technical security systems
• Operate within moderate to high personal risk in threatening/hostile conditions; Able to accept some legal and reputational risk
• Watch for and respond to safety hazards and criminal, suspicious, and security issues
• Work with minimal supervision
• Professionally interact with outside agencies and other Church departments
  

Qualifications
Selections for this position will not solely be based on an individual's qualifications but will include the needs of the specific Area and Church Security Department.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 2 years' work experience preferred
• Diploma or Security Certification from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 4 years security or law enforcement training/experience is preferred. Three years of related experience can substitute for 1 year of security experience; Max substitution is 2 years
• Must be a member of the Church and possess a current temple recommend
• Has no prior criminal record or affiliation with anti-government or anti-Church groups.
• Pass required screening, suitability assessment, background, and physical fitness tests
• Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Requires tact and judgment in exercising duties.
• Have a professional and friendly demeanor
• Be willing to accept directions from supervision in a positive manner
• Computer skills are preferred.
• Preference given for experience in using, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarms and surveillance equipment
• Preference given for first responder, medical, or customer service experience
• Physical activity includes hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motion. Some sedentary work and heavy work required.
• Visual acuity of 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision is required.
• The employee will be subject to activities that occur both inside and outside including outside environmental conditions, cold, heat, narrow aisles, passageways, and moving vehicles.
