Role:
Reporting to the Quality Director,
The Route-to-Market (RTM) Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance across the entire distribution chain, from production to the point of sale, in line with GBFoods Africa Quality Standards.
The role drives marketplace quality monitoring, manages consumer and customer quality concerns, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product integrity, customer satisfaction, and brand reputation across African markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Governance

  • Supports deployment of the GBFoods Africa Quality Strategy, translating regional goals into specific RTM quality projects, targets, and performance metrics.
  • Contributes to defining and embedding GBFoods Africa Quality Management Standards across the Route-to-Market — from production gate to point of sale.

Trade & Marketplace Quality

  • Leads the trade quality monitoring programme, including regular on-shelf product assessments across markets; ensures data is analyzed, trends identified, and improvement projects activated and followed to closure.
  • Ensures post-launch evaluations are completed for all new innovations and promotional items, providing timely feedback to the relevant brand and operations teams.
  • Contributes to quality improvements across the distribution chain from distribution centers to Point of Sale (POS).
  • Supports local marketplace product quality incident management, root cause investigation, and consequent corrective actions.
  • Leads the consumer and customer complaint process — interfaces with country consumer/customer care lines for alert triggers and feedback data, manages return and refusal dispositions, and supports customer service teams in resolving quality issues.
  • Leads or supports the development of quality improvement activities based on monitoring and analysis of marketplace data from multiple channels, including consumer and customer care lines, brand social media, on-shelf inspections, warehouse and re-packer data, and employee observations.
  • Supports definition of product quality standards (PQS) for secondary packaging based on customer requirements.

Logistics, Warehousing & Third Parties

  • Supports CSE, Logistics, and Sales teams to ensure compliance across warehousing and logistics — secondary and tertiary transport and storage, distributors, and concessionaires
  • Supports import/export quality issue resolution and drives improvement actions in logistics operations
  • Supports preparation of inter-company quality documents for cross-border GBFoods finished goods imports; validates first-shipment quality and monitors ongoing quality of received finished goods
  • Supports verification of ongoing compliance to GBFoods Africa Quality Management Standards in third-party re-packers and assemblers, through communications, self-assessments, KPI monitoring, and technical visits

Innovation & Change

  • Supports application of GBFoods Africa quality processes for innovations, promotional items, and change management across African markets
  • Ensures quality is embedded at each stage of the innovation and renovation gate process, with timely sign-off at relevant milestones

Capability & Governance Participation

  • Leads or participates in Quality Expert interventions including Operational Quality Reviews, HACCP workshops, and training events
  • Supports RTM-specific quality capability building across distributor, logistics partner, and field sales teams — ensuring the people closest to the consumer understand and uphold product quality standards
  • Contributes to RTM quality performance reporting for the Africa Operations Leadership Team (AOLT), including KPIs on marketplace quality, complaint trends, and audit outcomes

Requirements:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain
  • Minimum 7+ years in similar or same role in the FMCG industry.
  • Possess commercial fluency.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
  • Must have multi-market agility, structured follow-through, and sound judgement under ambiguity.

  • Incident & crisis management.
  • Product technical know-how
  • Warehousing and logistics quality management.
  • Excellent digital- data analysis and reporting.
