Job Description:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all commercial and financial aspects of projects, from tender stage through to final account. The role ensures effective cost control, contract administration, and risk management, while supporting operational delivery and maximizing project profitability. The incumbent works closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered within budget, in compliance with contractual requirements, and aligned with company standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or diploma in quantity surveying, or related degree from RICS (Royal institute for Chartered Surveyors).
- Mine Health and Safety checks completed (medicals, mine induction, etc.)
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience as quantity surveyor for a mining industry.
- This role is subject to a police and credit clearance.
Job Outputs / Key Performance Areas:
1. Contracts
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities, in line with client requirements and company standards
- Review tender terms and conditions and identify contractual risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are incorporated into pricing and submissions
- Analyze contract documents upon receipt and ensure full understanding of contractual obligations, risks, and commercial implications
2. Project Commercial Management
- Measure, value, and certify work completed by subcontractors in accordance with contract terms and project requirements
3. Financial Management
- Expedite and manage contractual claims to ensure timely submission, approval, and recovery of project-related costs
4. Administration and Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly cost reports reflecting project performance, forecasts, and financial status
5. Health and Safety
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of health and safety regulations and their implications on project and commercial activities
- Ensure all contractual and commercial processes consider applicable health and safety requirements and risks
