The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements, including current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), ISO 9001:2015, and FSSC standards. This role involves implementing and maintaining quality management systems, conducting audits, managing documentation, and coordinating staff training on quality procedures.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Compliance and Quality Standards: Ensure the facility's overall compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other relevant quality standards.
- Implement quality assurance policies and procedures to maintain high-quality products throughout the production chain.
- Implement, and maintain quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Documentation and Audits: Review, and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the scope of the Quality Management System (QMS). Coordinate internal audits and self-inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Prepare reports on quality activities, including inspection results and corrective actions taken.
- Maintain records of testing and quality assurance activities for compliance with standards like ISO 9001:2015 and FSSC
- Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and support external audits, implementing corrective actions based on audit findings
- Deviation and Change Control: Document, review, and follow up on deviations. Manage change control documentation and approval processes to ensure that changes do not negatively impact product quality.
- Training and Personnel Management: Coordinate training activities for personnel on specific topics related to cGMP and quality standards. Ensure that all staff members are properly trained and equipped to perform their roles effectively
- Identify training needs and organize interventions to enhance quality standards among production staff.
- Equipment and Process Validation: Oversee equipment registration, identification, and labelling. Ensure equipment qualification and validation of systems to maintain operational efficiency and product quality
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system.
- Collaborate with production managers to enhance quality control processes and prevent manufacturing errors.
- Product Quality Reviews: Conduct regular product quality reviews and provide technical advice on process performance improvements to ensure continuous quality enhancement
- Conduct inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards56.
- Use various methods such as visual inspection, product measurements, and testing to identify defects or non-conformities
- Complaint Handling: Handle customer complaints related to product quality and provide feedback as necessary. Also, manage complaints related to inputs from vendors and suppliers
- Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues to identify root causes.
- Recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions to prevent future defects
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that production premises are clean and sanitized according to standards. Enforce compliance with good production practices and safety regulations, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Typically requires a degree or diploma in a relevant field such as, quality assurance, food science or engineering.
- Experience: Previous experience in quality assurance and HACCP within the plastics industry is highly valued.
- Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve quality issues, along with excellent communication skills to convey information effectively
- Knowledge of Quality Standards: Familiarity with quality management systems like ISO 9001, BRC or FSSC is beneficial
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to work under deadlines and handle stress effectively.
