Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with dispensing medications to patients, following instructions and adhering to labeling requirements.
- Count medications accurately and ensure correct dosage is provided.
- Prepare medication labels with clear instructions for patients.
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner, providing clear and accurate medication information.
- Answer patient questions about over-the-counter medications and refer complex inquiries to the pharmacist.
- Process payments for medication purchases, ensuring accurate transactions.
- Assist with maintaining pharmacy inventory, including stocking shelves, rotating medications, identifying potential stock shortages and participating in stock taking.
- Assist with receiving and verifying new medication deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing and sales.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and courteous manner
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and smooth operation of the pharmacy.
Requirements:
- Must possess a Medical Counter Assistant (MCA) Certificate from a recognized institution.
- At least 3 years of experience in a community or hospital pharmacy setting (experience in customer-facing roles is an advantage).
- Basic knowledge of medicines, prescription handling, and pharmacy operations.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional and empathetic attitude.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing, labeling, and record-keeping.
- Ability to use basic computer applications or pharmacy management systems.
- Organized, reliable, and a good team player able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated integrity and confidentiality in handling patient and pharmacy information.
