About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Medical Officer to support our health insurance operations through medical claims vetting and clinical review. The successful candidate will ensure that all claims are medically appropriate, cost-effective, and compliant with approved clinical guidelines and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and vet medical claims for clinical appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness.
- Assess diagnoses, treatments, procedures, investigations, and prescriptions against accepted medical standards.
- Ensure claims comply with benefit limits, treatment protocols, and clinical guidelines.
- Provide medical opinions on complex or disputed claims.
- Identify potential cases of overutilization, abuse, or fraud and recommend corrective action.
- Liaise with healthcare providers, claims officers, and internal teams for clarification and resolution.
- Support policy development and continuous improvement of claims review processes.
- Maintain proper documentation and medical reports for claims decisions.
Required Qualifications
- MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Full registration and good standing with the Medical and Dental Council.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience as a Medical Officer.
- Sound knowledge of clinical practice and treatment protocols.
- Prior experience in health insurance, claims vetting, utilization review, or managed care is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

- Ability to work independently and make objective medical judgments.
