Job summary
The Loan Officer is responsible for sourcing clients, appraising loan applications, disbursing loans, monitoring repayments, and ensuring loan quality in line with company policies and risk standards.

Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Identify, prospect, and onboard eligible loan clients.
- Educate clients on loan products, terms, interest rates, and repayment schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage timely repayments.
- Conduct regular field visits to client businesses and residences.
Loan Appraisal & Credit Assessment
- Collect and verify customer documentation and information.
- Conduct business assessments, cash flow analysis, and character evaluation.
- Perform credit risk assessments and recommend appropriate loan amounts.
- Ensure compliance with credit policies and lending guidelines.
Loan Disbursement & Documentation
- Prepare complete loan files for approval.
- Ensure all loan documentation is accurately completed and signed.
- Support the disbursement process in collaboration with the Disbursement Supervisor.
- Educate clients on repayment obligations before disbursement.
Loan Monitoring & Recovery Support
- Monitor loan performance and repayment behavior.
- Follow up promptly on missed or late payments.
- Support the Recovery Team in early-stage collections.
- Identify potential default risks and report proactively.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate loan records and client files.
- Submit daily and weekly activity and loan performance reports.
- Update loan management systems with accurate data.
- Ensure confidentiality of client information.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum SHS Leavers, ND/bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 1–3 years' experience in microfinance or credit operations.
- Field-based experience is an advantage.
