Job descriptions & requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise laboratory technicians in performing routine and non-routine tests on petroleum products.
- Ensure all testing is carried out in accordance with ASTM, ISO, API, and internal methods.
- Review, verify, and approve laboratory test results and reports.
- Maintain quality control systems and ensure proper calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of samples and chemicals.
- Monitor laboratory performance and ensure timely turnaround of results.
- Train and guide lab staff to maintain technical competency and compliance.
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE and laboratory safety procedures at all times.
- Liaise with operations and inspection teams regarding sample analysis and results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in petroleum testing or oil & gas laboratory environment.
- Strong knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and API testing standards.
- Experience in supervising or leading a laboratory team is an advantage.
- Good analytical, reporting, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance mindset.
