Company: Dizengoff Ghana Ltd – Agric Division
Base: Techiman (Bono East), with regular travel across all three regions
Territory: Bono (Sunyani, Berekum, Dormaa, Wenchi), Bono East (Techiman, Kintampo, Nkoranza, Atebubu), Ahafo (Goaso, Bechem, Kukuom, Hwidiem)
Reports to: General Manager, Agric Division (Accra)
Direct reports: Field promoters in the territory
Product categories: Crop protection, water-soluble fertilizers, vegetable hybrid seeds, greenhouse and irrigation solutions
Employment type: Full-time
Role purpose
The Regional Sales Manager owns revenue, margin and collections for the Agric Division across Bono, Bono East and Ahafo. The role builds a profitable distributor and agro-dealer network, grows sales of premium inputs, and leads a field team that turns farmer demand into paid orders.
The territory covers Ghana's transitional and cocoa belts: cocoa in Ahafo and western Bono; maize, yam, cashew, soybean and vegetables around Techiman, Wenchi, Kintampo and Atebubu. Techiman market is a key regional trading hub, and the role is expected to use it to reach dealers and farmers well beyond the three regions.
Key responsibilities
Sales and business growth
- Deliver the regional sales budget by category (crop protection, fertilizer, seeds, greenhouse/irrigation), by month and by customer.
- Build and execute an annual regional sales plan aligned to the cropping calendar (major and minor seasons, cocoa pod-fill window, dry-season vegetables).
- Grow penetration of premium products, especially Haifa water-soluble fertilizers and new crop protection and seed launches.
- Identify and pursue institutional opportunities: commercial farms, out-grower schemes, cocoa and cashew buyers, NGOs, district assemblies and government programmes.
- Track competitor products, prices and promotions, and report actionable market intelligence monthly.
Distribution and channel management
- Appoint, develop and review distributors and agro-dealers so that every major district has active coverage.
- Agree annual targets, stock plans and joint business plans with key distributors.
- Manage stock levels and product rotation at dealer level to prevent stock-outs and expiries.
- Run dealer engagement: trade meetings, shop branding, point-of-sale material and incentive schemes.
Credit and collections
- Enforce the company credit policy; recommend credit limits only with supporting customer history.
- Own collections for the territory and keep receivables within agreed terms.
- Escalate overdue accounts early and agree written repayment plans.
Farmer engagement and technical marketing
- Plan and run demonstration plots, field days and farmer trainings with the agronomy team.
- Support Centre of Excellence and demo activities in the Techiman–Ejura corridor.
- Collect field results and farmer testimonials to support product claims and new registrations.
- Promote turnkey solutions such as greenhouse kits and irrigation systems to progressive and commercial farmers.
Team leadership
- Recruit, coach and manage field sales officers; set clear individual targets and visit plans.
- Hold weekly sales reviews and monthly one-to-ones; ride along in the field regularly.
- Enforce daily activity reporting and CRM discipline; act on under-performance promptly.
Reporting and administration
- Submit weekly sales, collections and stock reports and a monthly regional performance review.
- Contribute regional inputs to the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Manage regional expenses, vehicles and promotional budgets within approved limits.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, Ghana Standards Authority and company rules on storage, labelling and safe use of agrochemicals.
Qualifications and experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Crop Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or a related field.
- At least 5 years in agri-input sales (agrochemicals, fertilizer or seeds), with at least 2 years managing a team or a territory.
- Proven record of meeting sales and collection targets through distributors and agro-dealers.
- Strong working knowledge of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo: key crops, dealers, markets and farmer groups.
- Fluency in English and Twi; Bono/Brong dialect or a northern language is an advantage.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight trips.
- Proficiency in Excel and phone-based reporting tools.
Preferred
- Master's degree or MBA in Agribusiness or Marketing.
- Experience selling premium or specialty inputs (water-soluble fertilizers, hybrid seeds, bio stimulants, irrigation).
- Existing relationships with large distributors, commercial farms or cocoa/cashew value-chain players in the territory.
- Knowledge of EPA pesticide regulations and safe-use standards.
Competencies
- Commercial drive: owns the number and plans backwards from the target.
- Credit discipline: sells to customers who pay, and follows up until they do.
- Team leadership: sets clear expectations, coaches in the field, holds people accountable.
- Agronomic credibility: can explain product benefits and cost-benefit to farmers and dealers.
- Integrity and reliability with company stock, cash and customer commitments.
- Data-driven: uses sales and stock data to make decisions and report honestly
