Head Of Secondary School At Brainy Bairn School

The Brainy Bairn School is an ultramodern international school located in West Legon, Accra. It is currently running two departments; preschool and primary, and now wishes to add on a secondary department in August, 2013. The school is, therefore, currently seeking to engage the services of a highly qualified, dynamic and visionary leader to head this department.
Duties
The successful Head will be responsible for the following duties:

• The academic leadership and administration of the Secondary School.
• Leading and inspiring a team of excellent, experienced and innovative teachers in the use of modern pedagogical teaching practices.
• Organizing professional development workshops for staff.
• All other duties that are commensurate with the role of a head.
  

Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants must have all/most of the following qualifications and experience:

• A minimum of a Masters Degree in Education /or higher from a recognized university.
• A Professional teaching certificate from a recognized institution.
• Some leadership experience as a Head / Deputy Head of a school, Curriculum Programme Coordinator, or Head of Department in an International School with a minimum of three years’ experience.
• Must also have at least five (5) years post qualification teaching experience in an international school.
• Must have an up-to-date knowledge of the British Curriculum and be well-versed in how the IGCSE/IB/A’Level system runs.
• Must be aged between 40-50 years.

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must be internationally-minded and should be able to interact and communicate with a culturally diverse staff, students and parents/guardians.
• Should possess excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with teachers and the school management team.
• Should have a strong commitment to the well-being and interests of students.
