Job Summary

The Grant Manager will oversee the management and resource mobilization efforts to run the entirety of the Africa Youth Climate Fund (AYCF). The Grant Manager will ensure effective grant administration, fundraising, financial oversight, and strategic alignment with AYCF’s mission. This position requires experience in grantmaking, fundraising, financial management, and stakeholder engagement, with a deep understanding of Africa's philanthropy, climate justice, and environmental sustainability landscape.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Grant Manager & Administration:

  • Develop and implement AYCF’s grant management strategy to ensure transparency, efficiency, and impact.
  • Oversee the grant application process, including proposal selection, due diligence, and fund disbursement.
  • Monitor and evaluate funded projects to ensure compliance with grant terms and impactful outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant applications, awards, and reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate communication with grantees to provide technical support, ensure accountability, and promote knowledge sharing.



Resource Mobilization & Fund Raising:

  • Lead efforts to secure financial support from donors, philanthropic organizations, and institutional funders.
  • Develop compelling grant proposals, fundraising campaigns, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with potential funders and partners to expand AYCF’s funding base.
  • Track funding trends and identify new opportunities for financial sustainability.



Financial Oversight & Budgeting:

  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure proper allocation and management of funds.
  • Develop and oversee yearly, quarterly, and monthly budgets for AYCF’s grant programs.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, donor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Prepare financial reports and updates for stakeholders, donors, and the AYCF leadership team.


Stakeholder Engagements & Partnerships:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including youth-led organizations, NGOs, government agencies, and international funders.
  • Represent AYCF at climate and environmental forums, funding conferences, and networking events.
  • Facilitate collaboration between grantees and relevant partners to enhance project impact.


Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Support youth-led organizations in strengthening their fundraising and grant management skills.
  • Develop training materials and host capacity-building workshops for grantees.
  • Promote the sharing of best practices, case studies, and success stories within the AYCF network.


Governance & Team Coordination:

  • Lead the development and structuring of AYCF’s governance framework, including forming the Advisory Board and selecting key programmatic staff.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and alignment of team members with AYCF’s strategic vision and operational needs.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability systems for effective fund oversight and delivery.
  • Ensure regular communication and collaboration between the advisory board, staff, and other stakeholders.



Required Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Environmental Science, International Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 4 years of experience in grant management, fundraising, or program administration.
  • Proven experience in resource mobilization, donor relations, and financial oversight.
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills, with the ability to track and manage large funds.
  • Experience working with youth-led organizations and community-driven initiatives is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of climate justice, sustainability, and development issues in Africa.
  • High proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking); working knowledge of French is an asset.



Terms & Conditions:

  • Contract Duration: 2 years (renewable)
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Working Language: English
  • Monthly gross salary between GH¢ 10,000 - GH¢ 12,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
