Company Description

Interns Hub bridges the gap between education and the workforce by connecting students and emerging professionals with real-world opportunities. The organisation offers internships, mentorship, and practical career development programmes that help individuals build relevant skills and experience. Through a strong digital community, Interns Hub provides a supportive environment where future professionals can learn, share, and grow together. Strategic partnerships with organisations and professionals create a trusted hub for career exploration, networking, and skill-building. Volunteers and contributors play an important role in sustaining this mission-driven platform.

Role Description

The Discord Community Manager - Volunteer will help build and maintain an engaging, supportive, and professional online community for students and young professionals. In this remote volunteer role, the Community Manager will moderate channels, welcome new members, and ensure that community guidelines are followed. They will help plan and host community events such as Q&A sessions, networking meetups, and skill-sharing discussions and collaborate with the team to share relevant updates, internship opportunities, and resources. Day-to-day responsibilities include responding to member questions, encouraging healthy conversation, identifying community needs, and collecting feedback to improve the server experience. The role may also involve creating simple announcements, coordinating with mentors and partners, and suggesting new initiatives to strengthen member engagement and retention.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing or participating actively in online communities (Discord, Slack, or similar platforms), with an understanding of moderation tools and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear written communication, active listening, and a friendly, inclusive interaction style.
  • Organisational and time-management skills to handle multiple channels, events, and member requests in a structured and responsible way.
  • Interest in student development, early-career support, and mentorship, with a sincere commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, collaborate with a distributed team, and reliably commit a consistent number of hours per week.
  • Basic familiarity with career resources, internships, or education-related opportunities; prior experience in community building or volunteering is a plus.
  • Comfort with using digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, simple project management platforms) and willingness to learn new systems as needed.
  • Respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to support community members from a wide range of backgrounds and locations.
