The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our Iduapriem team.
About the Role
To build, develop and lead an effective team capable of delivering industry leading practices within the mine planning and technical support functions in order to achieve business objectives/targets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee Life of Mine (LoM) plans aligned to corporate strategy.
- Oversee mine optimisation, design and schedules.
- Ensure short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans support production and cost objectives.
- Optimise ore extraction sequencing to maximise value and minimise dilution.
- Integrate geological, geotechnical, and operational inputs into planning models.
- Lead technical inputs into feasibility studies and expansion projects.
- Oversee production scheduling (short, medium, long term).
- Monitor reconciliation between plan and actual performance.
- Develop strategic mine planning scenarios for annual Life of Mine optimisation.
- Annual budget plan consolidation and reporting.
- Annual Mineral Reserve estimation and reporting in line with AGA Corporate guidance.
- Drive continuous improvement in planning methodologies and software tools.
- Ensure accurate spatial data management and survey control systems.
- Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory survey requirements.
- Oversee volumetric calculations and production reporting integrity.
- Ensure ground stability and slope design integrity.
- Oversee the site Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
- Oversee slope stability monitoring and reporting to effectively manage geotechnical risk.
- Approve geotechnical designs and monitoring programmes.
- Mitigate geotechnical risks affecting safety and productivity.
- Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing team.
- Drive succession planning and technical capability building.
- Ensure compliance with mining regulations and technical standards.
- Act as Competent Person (where applicable) for technical disclosures.
- Manage operational and geotechnical risks proactively.
- Support audit processes and technical reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
Required Skills
- Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in mine planning in open pit gold operations.
- At least eight (8) years in senior leadership role.
- Must hold a valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in geotechnical risk management.
- Proficiency in planning software tools.
