Role Overview


As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the Company’s compliance framework by ensuring that business activities, customer relationships, transactions, and operational processes are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.


The role will focus on customer and business due diligence, AML/CFT compliance, blockchain wallet screening, transaction monitoring, regulatory compliance, third-party due diligence, and compliance awareness across the organisation. The Compliance Officer will work closely with the Head of Compliance, Ghana, to identify, assess, escalate, and mitigate compliance risks while supporting the Company’s commitment to maintaining a strong compliance culture.


The Compliance Officer will support the Company’s commitment to maintaining a robust, risk-based, and regulatory-compliant operating environment, with particular focus on AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, sanctions, transaction monitoring, blockchain screening, and financial crime risk management within the digital asset ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities


Customer Due Diligence (CDD/KYC & KYB)


  • Conduct and review Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and Company policies.
  • Conduct Know Your Business (KYB) reviews for corporate and business customers.
  • Verify and assess customer identification, beneficial ownership, source of funds, and other relevant information.
  • Ensure customer onboarding and ongoing due diligence are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or potential compliance concerns and escalate them appropriately.


Blockchain Screening & Transaction Monitoring


  • Conduct blockchain wallet screening to identify exposure to sanctioned entities, high-risk addresses, illicit activities, and other relevant risk indicators.
  • Monitor customer transactions and activities for unusual, suspicious, or potentially high-risk behaviour.
  • Investigate transaction monitoring and blockchain screening alerts and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Document investigation findings, supporting evidence, rationale, and recommended actions.
  • Support the identification and reporting of potentially suspicious transactions in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.


AML/CFT & Sanctions Compliance


  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Company’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT), and sanctions compliance framework.
  • Monitor compliance with established AML/CFT controls and identify areas requiring improvement.
  • Support periodic compliance reviews, risk assessments, and control testing.
  • Assist in identifying emerging financial crime and sanctions risks relevant to the Company’s digital asset activities.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.


Third-Party Due Diligence


  • Conduct compliance due diligence on partners, vendors, agents, service providers, and other third parties.
  • Assess third-party compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, reputational, and other relevant risks.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance risks associated with third-party relationships.
  • Support ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews of third-party relationships.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of third-party due diligence and monitoring activities.


Compliance Training & Awareness


  • Assist with the planning and delivery of compliance training and awareness programmes across the organisation.
  • Support staff awareness of AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, sanctions, regulatory requirements, and internal compliance policies.
  • Maintain training records, attendance documentation, and compliance awareness materials.
  • Assist in identifying areas where additional compliance training or awareness may be required.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, risk awareness, and ethical conduct across the organisation.


Compliance Records, Reporting & Regulatory Support


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records, registers, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare periodic compliance reports, summaries, dashboards, and management information as required.
  • Ensure compliance documentation is complete, organised, and readily available for internal reviews, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Support the preparation of information and documentation requested by regulators and other authorised stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate security of sensitive customer and compliance information.


Continuous Improvement


  • Identify opportunities to strengthen compliance controls and improve existing compliance processes.
  • Recommend enhancements to AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and other compliance procedures.
  • Assist with the implementation and optimisation of compliance tools, systems, and monitoring solutions.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory and financial crime risks and support appropriate updates to internal controls.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the Company’s overall compliance framework.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in Compliance, AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, Risk Management, Financial Crime, or a related function.
  • Practical experience conducting CDD/KYC/KYB reviews, including customer identification, beneficial ownership, and source-of-funds verification.
  • Experience in transaction monitoring, suspicious activity identification, sanctions screening, and compliance investigations.
  • Experience with blockchain/crypto wallet screening or digital asset compliance is highly advantageous.
  • Experience working within a fintech, cryptocurrency, financial services, payments, or other regulated environment is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of applicable AML/CFT, sanctions, regulatory, and financial crime compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Ghana’s regulatory framework and requirements applicable to virtual asset businesses is an advantage.
