Compliance & Risk Manager

Reports to: Global Director – Compliance, Risk & Internal Control

Our client is an African energy and infrastructure enterprise with interests across upstream oil and gas, mining, finance, construction and heavy industries.

You will establish, implement and manage a compliance management framework. The role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day compliance activities, monitoring regulatory, contractual and lender obligations, conducting compliance reviews, supporting policy governance, and providing clear management.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the Compliance Management Framework, annual compliance plan and related procedures.
• Coordinate the identification, documentation and monitoring of applicable regulatory, contractual, lender and internal policy obligations across the business.
• Maintain oversight of the compliance obligations register and rolling compliance calendar.
• Monitor submission, filing, certification, license, permit and renewal deadlines and escalate risks promptly.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accuracy and completeness of compliance registers and reporting.
• Percentage of regulatory, contractual and lender submissions completed on time.
• Timely closure of compliance findings and corrective actions.
• Compliance training completion rates and effectiveness measures.
• Quality, timeliness and usefulness of compliance advice and management reporting.

Education and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, risk management
• A relevant master's degree is desirable
• Certificate as CCEP, ICA Diploma, CAMS, CIA, CRMA or equivalent qualification

Experience

• Compliance, regulatory affairs, risk management, internal audit, legal or relative control function
• Leading projects, coordinating staff or managing significant compliance workstreams
• Experience in Oil & Gas, energy, mining, financial services
