Job Description
Main purpose of the job:
CLMRS Field Agents serve as the primary point of contact for households participating in the Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS). They build trusted relationships with farming families, provide ongoing support and guidance, raise awareness about child labour and child rights, and follow up on identified cases to ensure meaningful remediation.
Agents are equipped with the necessary tools (e.g., tablets, awareness materials) and receive continuous training, mentoring, and technical support from Project Managers and CLMRS Supervisors to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
The CLMRS Field Agents will:

• Engage with households to support them to better protect their children by:
• Explaining CLMRS in a supportive manner, raising awareness about child labour and child rights, and providing guidance to households to positively change behavior to protect children.
• Visiting households and interviewing adults and all children aged 5-17 in each household in a child sensitive manner, to identify children in child labour or situations of risk.
• Visiting farms to identify any children in or at risk of child labour
• Guiding and supporting households to change behavior to help children transition out of child labour, by engaging in regular dialogue and recommending the right support.
• Recommending additional support, based on the situation and needs of the child(ren), their
• households and communities.
• Providing directly, or supporting, the delivery of the agreed support, where necessary
• Engaging with households (every 3-6 months) and with each child identified in child labour to
• assess their changing situation and needs.
• Monitoring the implementation of prevention and remediation actions to ensure the best possible impact.
• Refer child protection cases to the appropriate service where needed
• Support child protection in assigned communities through:
• Raising awareness about child labour and child rights at the community level
• Collecting accurate community-level data about the presence and quality of essential services
• Supporting other actors delivering community development interventions, where applicable
• Use standard mobile apps and systems to register all relevant information on visits, to ensure they are documented and monitored.
• Facilitate visits from International Cocoa Initiative staff and other partners to the community and/or the households.
• Maintain all equipment and materials provided for the purpose of this project in good condition.
  

Qualifications , Skills And Experience

• A minimum qualification of post-secondary qualification such as Higher National Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of life in cocoa-growing communities
• Experience in activities related to the fight against child labour, child protection, social work, education, community development, public health or similar
• Experience in child-sensitive interviewing, referral pathways, confidentiality, safeguarding, behavior change communication (desirable)
• Strong relationship-building skills and ability to engage respectfully with households
• Ability to communicate with tact and empathy on sensitive issues, and to support people to change perceptions and practices
• Experience in coordinating and facilitating discussions or knowledge-sharing sessions
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, caretakers, community members, and Cooperative/Licensed Buying Company representatives (desirable)
• Ability to establish good working relationships with partners (desirable)
• Good organizational skills, including the capacity to meet deadlines, work effectively under pressure, and take responsibility for actions
• Tech-savvy and ability to use a tablet or smartphone for data collection
• Willing and able to travel frequently to assigned communities, including by motorcycle (relevant driving license, or willingness to learn)
• Demonstrates dynamism, responsibility, willingness to learn from, and to coach others
• Respected within assigned communities and of good character
• Seen as neutral (not affiliated with political parties or local executives)
• Demonstrates good morality and integrity.
• Demonstrates motivation for field work
• Ability to communicate in the local Ghanaian language
