Job Title: CAT Drill Mechanic Leadhand

Reporting Line: Service Supervisor

Location: Mantrac Ahafo North MARC Site

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, leadership, and technical guidance to all technicians and assigned trainees within the section.
• Ensure that all unused parts are accurately accounted for and returned to the warehouse prior to job completion.
• Should be able to use the latest Caterpillar diagnostic tools, including Electronic Technician (ET), DataView, and related systems, for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Should be familiar with all aspects of Caterpillar and Mantrac warranty policies and take appropriate action in situations where possibility of warranty exists.
• Ensure technicians prepare accurate, complete, and timely service reports and Service Information Management System (SIMS) documentation for all completed work.
• Ensures that the technicians under his section are trained on new machines systems, use of appropriate tooling and proper repair procedures.
• Organizes and manages efficiently tooling and equipment required for his section.
• Ensures that there is effective control and proper supervision of field service vehicles and Tool- boxes. (When applicable)
• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on CAT MD6200 Drills in accordance with OEM and Mantrac standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and hydraulic system faults using Caterpillar diagnostic tools and service literature.
• Directs and implements appropriate quality control measures and ensures that the work is performed to the customers’ satisfaction and re-dos are minimized.
• Advise and train technicians on applicable safety procedures, standards, and best practices.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent technical skills and good time management skills
• Good IT skills
• Must be able to work in a noisy and dusty environment
• Should be able to work longer hours, including weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of MVT/MET/EET/HND or BSc. Mechanical/Agricultural/Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of three (3) years post-qualification experience in heavy-duty earthmoving mining and construction machinery.
• Must have a Ghanaian driver’s license B/E.
• Knowledge and Experience in Caterpillar tracked equipment and mechanical systems.
• A good knowledge of CAT, ET, and SIS is essential.
