WE’RE HIRING | Business Development Lead, Ghana
BTV is recruiting for a fast-growing financial infrastructure company that serves Africa’s digital economy. Our client runs an on-demand institutional liquidity pipeline that provides treasury, FX, settlement and payments to institutional clients, and it is building more products on top of that engine.
This is not an idea-stage startup. The company has real institutional clients and growing revenue, and it already operates across several entities, currencies and banking partners. The team is lean and has staff in Europe, the Middle East and West Africa, with deep operating roots in Ghana and Nigeria.
Why this role, why now
Until now, growth has been led by the founder. Ghana is one of the company’s most important markets, and the next stage depends on deeper relationships with the institutions that move money: banks, PSPs, mobile money operators, fintechs and FX providers. Cold emails won’t win these relationships. The client needs someone who already knows the market, can get the right meeting, and can carry a deal through compliance and onboarding until it is live and transacting.
What you’ll own
- Pipeline and new business: Map target institutions, qualify opportunities, and win institutional clients for treasury, FX, settlement and payments. Negotiate pricing, volumes, SLAs and settlement terms.
- Bank, fintech and LP partnerships: Build relationships at executive and operating levels with Ghanaian banks, PSPs, MoMo operators and fintechs. Support account opening, partner due diligence and onboarding.
- Deal execution: Take deals from signed agreement to first live transaction, covering KYC, integration, test transactions and go-live, together with the operations, trading and compliance teams.
- West Africa expansion: Represent the company in Ghana, report back on FX and Bank of Ghana developments, and open the next corridors (Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Sierra Leone).
What success looks like
- 90 days: Prioritised target list, a clean pipeline, first meetings held with priority institutions, and 3 new active clients.
- 6 months: 6 institutional clients and partners signed and transacting, plus at least one new banking or payment partnership live.
- 12 months: Ghana is a steadily growing revenue contributor, at least one new West African market is opened, and you are ready to help build a regional team.
Must-haves
- Banking or fintech experience in Ghana and West Africa, including at an early-stage startup
- Exposure to stablecoins or digital assets in a payments or treasury setting
- A real network in Ghana’s financial ecosystem: decision makers take your calls
- 5+ years in B2B or institutional business development, with a track record of closing deals
- Strong knowledge of how money moves in Ghana: GhIPSS, the major MoMo rails, FX dynamics and the BoG regulatory environment
- Proven follow-through from introduction to live volume
- Based in Ghana (ideally Accra) and available full-time
Nice-to-haves
Treasury, FX, remittance or settlement experience; selling API or infrastructure products to financial institutions; relationships with regulators; familiarity with NIBSS/CBN or BCEAO/WAEMU; French; a finance, economics or business degree (an MBA is a plus).
What’s on offer
- A competitive startup package benchmarked to the Ghana market, with a performance component tied to the business you bring in
- Real authority over Ghana business development and a direct line to the founder
- The chance to build a Ghana and West Africa business from the ground up
