About the role
500 Global is looking for a Venture Builder to lead the creation of new health tech ventures in Africa, from problem validation through to launch and first funding. You'll work alongside corporate partners, local ecosystem collaborators, and founding teams to turn validated opportunities into investable companies. You'll build companies that address real gaps in healthcare access, backed by 500 Global's venture building methodology, global network, and investment experience.
This is a hands-on operator role. You'll be expected to build, not just advise.
What you'll do
-
Source and identify potential founders or early-stage companies building in healthcare/healthtech across Africa. Work closely to onboard them into our Venture Building program.
-
Support founders to identify and validate venture opportunities in African health markets, helping them structure customer discovery with patients, providers, payers and public health stakeholders, test assumptions, and turn market insight into evidence-based decisions.
-
Work alongside founders through the venture-building journey, helping them sharpen the venture thesis, identify the most critical assumptions, and focus on the highest-priority validation questions at each stage.
-
Guide founders on customer, business model and go-to-market validation, helping them design and interpret experiments around customer needs, buyer and payer dynamics, pricing, willingness to pay and early commercial demand.
-
Help founders identify and address key venture risks, including commercial, technical, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing and market-access considerations, and support evidence-based decisions to advance, pivot, extend or stop.
-
Support founders in building the right early-stage team, including identifying capability gaps, defining critical roles, assessing potential hires, and connecting founders to relevant talent networks.
-
Connect founders to the right expertise, resources and market access, including Bosch technical experts and assets, specialist mentors, customers, pilot partners and ecosystem relationships relevant to each venture’s needs.
-
Prepare founders for investment and scale, helping them strengthen milestones, unit economics, financial assumptions, hiring priorities, fundraising narratives and the evidence required for pre-seed and subsequent funding decisions.
-
Report progress to internal stakeholders and corporate partners, including milestones, KPIs, and impact outcomes.
Requirements
What we're looking for
-
5+ years of experience building or scaling health tech startups in Africa, ideally as a founder, co-founder, or early operator. Direct venture building experience is a strong plus.

A track record of taking at least one health product from idea to market in an African context.
-
Working knowledge of health systems in one or more African markets, including how care is delivered, paid for, and regulated.
-
Familiarity with digital health models such as telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, diagnostics, or health data platforms.
-
Strong commercial instincts: comfortable with unit economics, pricing, and building partnerships with both public and private sector actors.
-
A network across African health and startup ecosystems (clinicians, operators, investors, DFIs, NGOs).
-
Comfort working in ambiguity, across multiple stakeholders, and with a high degree of autonomy.
-
English proficiency, and any of the regional languages a plus
Nice to have
-
Experience with medical devices or connected hardware.

Exposure to corporate venture building or working with corporate innovation units.
