Fridoug Limited requires an Underground Technical Manager to manage and advance projects in this area of their contracting portfolio and be the lead of a new team in this exciting stage of the Company’s growth.
Role Description The Underground Technical Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Western Region, responsible for:
- Championing a strong safety culture, ensuring all operations comply with HSEC standards and that operational risks are proactively managed.
- Assuming full operational management responsibility for daily mining activities, including planning, execution, and optimisation across all projects.
- Generating and delivering detailed reports on technical performance, covering progress, safety incidents, and efficiency metrics.
- Acting as the primary interface with the client, managing the relationship to ensure contractual obligations and client expectations are met.
- Planning, coordinating, and controlling all human resources, equipment, and material supply to ensure operations meet production targets efficiently.
- Overseeing long-term planning and integrating robust short-term scheduling and control across all departmental activities.
- Managing key subcontractor agreements and overseeing the preparation and strict adherence to annual operating and capital budgets.
- Leading, mentoring, and organising a large, multi-disciplinary team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Coordinating technical service programs of work that enhance the life of the asset, and the quality and delivery of projects. Technical activities and programs will be both short term, routine technical work, as well as medium/long term.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical or a related Mining discipline.
- Ghana MinCom Licence
- At least 12 - 15 years of combined experience in project/operational leadership roles, with progression through roles of increasing responsibility in Mining.

- Advanced experience in leading and developing teams.
- Advanced ability to interact, influence, and resolve conflicts with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, regulators, and the community.
- Advanced understanding of Geological, Geotechnical and Planning functions.
- Advanced strategic thinking with the ability to align technical services with the strategic vision and objectives of the site.
- Advanced knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics in Geological, Geotechnical and Planning areas.
- Advanced skills in identifying, planning, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with Technical Services.
- Competent understanding of the latest technologies and innovations across Geological, Geotechnical and Planning areas.
- Advanced knowledge of health, safety, environment and sustainability regulations and practices.
- Competent understanding of cost management and financial principles in mining.
- Demonstrate strong self-awareness by understanding and reflecting on the impact of their behavior on others, actively seeking feedback and adapting their approach as needed, while prioritizing overall business needs above personal interests and effectively managing any resulting internal conflict or stress.
- Build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships by actively listening and asking insightful questions, effectively influencing and negotiating to achieve productive outcomes, while balancing positive interactions with the need to deliver results.
- Effectively contributes as the team Leader by adapting behavior as needed, managing team dynamics and conflict, and fostering an inclusive, safe environment that enables collaboration, contribution, feedback and coaching.
