Truck Driver
Job summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods and materials to designated locations. The role involves loading and unloading cargo where required, conducting routine vehicle checks, and ensuring the truck is well-maintained and roadworthy. The driver must adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and delivery schedules while maintaining accurate delivery records and providing excellent service during transport operations

Responsibilities
Driving
- Safely operate commercial trucks
- Transport goods with heavy truck or tractor-trailer
- Routes includes both intercity or regional across country
- Involves the adherence to traffic laws
- Navigating various road conditions, and maintaining control of the vehicle at all times
Loading & Unloading
- Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, deliver them as instructed
- Load and unload cargo
- Securing the load properly to ensure it remains stable during transit and following any specific instructions provided by the shipper or receiver
Route Planning
- Constantly on the road moving from city to city and within regions of the country
- Involves long hours on the road, away from home and family for extended periods
- Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps
- Identifying the most direct and safe routes to the destination
Vehicle Maintenance
- Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance and routine maintenance checks
- Ensure that vehicles are in good working condition, this includes inspection of tires, brakes, lights, and any other essential comp
- Pre-inspect trucks
Compliance & Regulations
- Comply with safe work practices, policies and processes at all times
- Must be able to adhere to strict schedules, navigate diverse weather conditions and comply with various regulations governing the transportation industry
- Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy
Communication
- Communicate with dispatchers and receivers and any other stakeholders throughout the journey
- Provide updates on delivery status
- Report on any issues or delays
- Any other duties as assigned
- Any other duty as assigned by line manager and CEO
Required Skills
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commercial Driver’s License - Class F
- Certificate from an accredited CDL school
- 21 years or older
- At least 1 – 2 years driving experience over-the-road trucking (OTR) experience
- Experience driving long distance both day and night
Personality
- Must possess excellent driving skills
- Must have a thorough understanding of safety protocols
- Must have the ability to maintain focus and alertness during extended journeys
- Must communicate frequently with dispatchers and receivers to coordinate deliveries and address any issues that may arise during transportation
- Must be able to pass random drug tests
- Must have the ability to lift heavy load repeatedly throughout the day
- Must have clean driving record with no convictions in the past 3 years
- Must have strong listening and verbal communication skills
- Must be dependable
