2 weeks agoJob descriptions & requirements
Asante Gold Corporation is a gold exploration, development and operating company with a high-quality portfolio of projects and mines in Ghana. Asante is currently operating the Bibiani and Chirano Gold Mines and continues with detailed technical studies at its Kubi Gold Project for early production.
All mines and projects are located on the prolific Bibiani and Ashanti Gold Belts. Asante is also exploring its Keyhole, Fahiakoba, and Betenase projects for new discoveries, all adjoining or along strike of major gold mines near the centre of Ghana’s Golden Triangle. Asante is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and the OTCQX Market. We co-listed our shares on the Ghana Stock Exchange to allow a whole new group of Ghanaian investors the opportunity to invest in the growth of their own local gold mining industry.
Asante has an experienced and skilled team of mine finders, builders and operators, with extensive experience in Ghana. Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana’s largest underground mine.
About This Role
The Lube Technician is responsible for ensuring optimal lubrication of plant machinery and equipment to enhance reliability, improve uptime, and extend asset lifespan. The role focuses on applying the correct lubricants using proper methods and schedules, supporting broader maintenance strategies such as Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and Condition‑Based Maintenance (CBM). By reducing the likelihood of equipment failure and ensuring consistent lubrication standards, the Lube Technician contributes directly to safe, efficient, and cost‑effective plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the selection and performance specification of all lubricants for equipment in collaboration with the lubrication engineer, OEMs and lubricant suppliers.
- Establish clear guidelines for determining when to use grease versus oil for various machine applications.
- Ensure lubricant selection optimizes cost, wear control, energy efficiency, equipment protection, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
- Confirm that all lubricants are compatible with equipment components, process fluids and the plant operating environment.
- Develop and document lubricant standards for all lubrication products used on site.
- Implement and monitor a lubricant consolidation strategy to minimize product variety while maintaining performance.
- Oversee the development and scheduling of routine lubrication preventive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, top‑ups, grease‑gun routes, filter replacements and lubrication inspections.
- Establish contamination‑control and lubrication guidelines for equipment rebuilders (e.g., engines, motors, pumps, gearboxes).
- Develop and implement lubrication procedures for tasks such as: Tank/sump flushing and cleaning, Oil drain interval determination (interval‑based or condition‑based) and Oil and grease top‑up procedures.
- Support the selection, implementation, and management of lubrication‑related software and digital tools including data‑entry systems, oil‑analysis software, predictive maintenance (PdM) modules, lubrication scheduling tools and relevant CMMS components.
- Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance strategies.
- Coordinate annual lubrication audits and benchmarking exercises to ensure program performance aligns with best practice standards.
- Select and recommend suitable oil‑analysis laboratories for routine and advanced diagnostics.
- Identify appropriate onsite oil‑analysis instruments and equipment to support real‑time condition monitoring.
- Recommend and support the selection of oil‑analysis software and reporting formats.
- Define sampling procedures, including when, where and how oil samples should be taken for each asset.
- Specify routine oil‑analysis test slates for different machines based on criticality and lubricant type.
- Establish oil‑analysis alarm limits and condemning criteria to guide maintenance decision‑making.
- Ensure oil‑analysis data is integrated and correlated with other reliability technologies, including vibration analysis, acoustics, thermal imaging, and other condition‑monitoring tools.
- Monitor daily operations for unsafe conditions or non‑compliance issues and report any violations to management.
- Assist in incident and accident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented within required timelines.
- Perform other responsibilities as reasonably assigned.
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in an Engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in reliability engineering, preferably within the mining industry.
- A Certificate of Competency issued by the Mines Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong understanding of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Technical knowledge of lubricants, including viscosity, additive chemistry, base oils, and lubricant‑machine compatibility.
- Ability to develop, implement, and manage lubrication schedules based on equipment needs and operating conditions.
- Skilled in condition‑monitoring tools such as oil analyzers, particle counters and thermal imaging devices for diagnosing equipment and lubricant health.
- Detail‑oriented with a high commitment to accuracy, quality and reliability.
- Results‑driven, innovative, and proactive in improving maintenance programs and equipment performance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse multicultural environments.
