Lead Applications Development and Interoperability

Essential Functions

• Work independently and collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test and maintain web- and desktop-based business applications (generally built on Microsoft technologies).
• Good understanding of healthcare interoperability (both content and transport) standards. Namely CCDA, HL7 V2, FHIR and project experience having worked with API’s based on these standards
• Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.
• Design, develop and unit test applications in accordance with established standards
• Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software
• Plan, package and support deployment of releases
• Participate in peer-reviews of solutions designs and related code
• Develop, refine and tune integrations between applications.
• Analyze and resolve technical and applications problems.
• Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
• Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget
• Provide third-level support to business users
• Research and evaluate a variety of software products
• Undertake small analysis projects in the form of consultancy

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a Software Developer
• Prior experience in a technical leadership position
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft .NET development using C#
• Experience with database development including relational development design, SQL and ORM technologies
• Experience with Healthcare interoperability standards ( content and transport) - C-CDA, HL7 v2 and FHIR and having worked with API’s based on those standards
• Extensive experience in both architecture and implementation-level enterprise software design
• Experience with source control management systems
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization
• Experience in requirements capture, analysis techniques and process improvements approaches
• Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development techniques and theories
• Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment, prioritize, multi-task and deliver quality work on-time
• Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders
• Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems and processes
• Ability to deal with highly sensitive and confidential information and adhere to data security and confidentiality standards, protocols, and procedures
• Ability to adapt to change and learn domain knowledge and new technologies.
• Preferred: Experience with user interface design and prototyping
• Preferred: Healthcare software domain experience.
