Job Summary
In order to advanced our Position as the market leader, we invite applications from highly motivated and qualified Person to employ as: HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER ? NEWMONT MARC, AKYEM.
Responsibilities

• �� Assisting and advising the Managing Director to discharge the SHE duties of the company
• �� Ensuring that the company SMS is implemented and maintained by Management throughout all the branches of the Company in Ghana
• �� Being the focal point to the other health and safety officers/coordinators at the MARC Contracts sites and to lead and coordinate SHE activities throughout our Ghana business
• �� Setting up auditing policies, procedures and company safety standards
• �� Heads and Chairs all safety meetings between all SHE Officers in every branch of the Company
• �� Together with the departmental or sectional Managers and members of the Health and Safety Committee undertake periodic work place inspection at the branches of Accra, Tarkwa, Kumasi, and Takoradi
• �� Ensuring that a register of hazardous substances is maintained in all locations
• �� Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and record the data accordingly
• �� Ensuring that contractors working on the company premises or on behalf of the company are competent and controlled whilst they are working on site
• �� Ensuring new employees, temporary workers and contractors are given adequate safety information before they begin work
• �� To promote a safety culture within the organisation

Qualification Required & Experience

• �� B.Sc Engineering
• �� Trained to a minimum of General and Advanced HSE standard (Mandatory)
• �� Membership of the relevant professional body (Desirable)
• �� Must have at least five (5) years post-qualification relevant experience
• �� Must have excellent communication skills
• �� Have sound Understanding of the Ghanaian Safety Laws
• �� A through understanding of the Company?s SMS
• �� Be able to identify hazards throughout the business
• �� Show good time management skills
• �� Must be computer literate and well versed in Microsoft Word, Excel,
• �� PowerPoint, Access and the Internet
