Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Forensic Accountant to lead fraud prevention, detection, and investigation efforts across our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for examining financial records, identifying irregularities, conducting forensic audits, and supporting management in preventing and resolving financial misconduct. The ideal candidate will hold relevant Ghanaian or international forensic accounting certifications and have experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively review financial transactions, procurement records, payroll data, and inventory systems to identify anomalies, red flags, or potential fraud.
  • Design and implement fraud prevention strategies, policies, and controls tailored to manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct regular data analytics to detect patterns indicative of fraud, including duplicate payments, ghost employees, inflated invoices, or procurement collusion.
  • Lead confidential investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, asset misappropriation, financial statement fraud, or other financial misconduct.
  • Gather, preserve, and document electronic and physical evidence in accordance with legal and evidentiary standards.
  • Conduct forensic interviews with employees, vendors, or other parties as part of investigation procedures.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports with findings, evidence summaries, and recommended disciplinary or corrective actions.
  • Assess the organization's vulnerability to fraud and financial crime across all departments (procurement, payroll, sales, inventory, cash handling).
  • Review and test internal controls, recommending enhancements to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensure compliance with Ghanaian anti-corruption laws, tax regulations, and international best practices.
  • Prepare forensic reports and evidence for potential disciplinary hearings, civil litigation, or referral to law enforcement (e.g., EOCO, Police CID).
  • Liaise with external counsel, regulators, or auditors as required during investigations.
  • Provide expert analysis and testimony if internal or external legal proceedings arise.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees and management on fraud awareness, red flags, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and ethical conduct across the organization.
  • Prepare regular fraud risk and investigation status reports for senior management and the Audit Committee.
  • Maintain confidential case files and investigation records in a secure and organized manner.


Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Forensic Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification from a recognized Ghanaian or international body such as CITLFA - Ghana, CPFA - ICFA Ghana, CFE) or equivalent forensic accounting certification.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in forensic accounting, forensic audit, or fraud investigation.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghanaian financial regulations, tax laws, and anti-corruption frameworks.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, ACL, IDEA, or similar forensic software).
  • Excellent investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional skepticism.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of procurement fraud schemes, payroll fraud, and inventory theft methodologies common in manufacturing.
