PURPOSE
To support the Finance function by ensuring accurate financial reporting, disciplined cash management, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making in Ghana.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operations
- Process supplier, vendor, and merchant invoices in accordance with internal approval procedures.
- Maintain and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers.
- Monitor vendor aging reports and ensure timely settlement of obligations.
- Track receivables and follow up on overdue accounts to improve cash collections.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records.
- Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records for audit and compliance purposes.
Payroll & Compliance
- Process monthly payroll accurately and ensure statutory deductions are correctly applied.
- Prepare and file all statutory returns including GRA taxes, PAYE, SSNIT, and pension contributions in accordance with regulatory timelines.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Ghanaian tax and regulatory requirements.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Maintain and update a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast to support liquidity management.
- Conduct variance analysis (Actual vs Budget) and highlight key drivers.
- Track operational burn rate and cost efficiency metrics.
- Support preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support management decision-making.
Financial Controls & Process Improvement
- Maintain clean and reconciled cash ledger balances.
- Support implementation of internal financial controls and best practices.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to audit queries where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting efficiency, and cost control.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
- Month-end close within 5 days
- 100% Transaction reconciliation accuracy
- Unreconciled transactions below 0.5%
- Cash flow forecast accuracy
- Statutory filing compliance
- Revenue reconciliation accuracy
- Vendor/partner payment timeliness
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 3–5 years relevant experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Experience managing Ghana payroll and tax filings.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, ICA Ghana, or CIMA – part or fully qualified) is preferred.
- Experience in a startup, fintech, or high-growth environment is an added advantage.
SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modelling).
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero or similar platforms.
- Good understanding of Ghana tax laws, payroll compliance, and statutory reporting.
- Basic understanding of foreign exchange and multi-currency accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
