The role ensures full compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal management systems while promoting a safe and environmentally sustainable workplace.

Key Responsibilities


Environmental Management

  •  Investigate environmental incidents such as pollution, noise control issues, toxic contamination, pest infestation, food poisoning, and waste management concerns.
  • Provide expert advice and reports to management on environmental matters.
  • Conduct site visits to farms and suppliers to assess environmental compliance and risks.
  • Liaise with government agencies and regulatory authorities on environmental issues.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans, including:
  • Effluent treatment systems o Domestic and solid waste management
  • Landfill site management • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of:
  • Factory/production areas
  • Work environments
  • Company premises and sanitary facilities
  • Monitor hygiene and sanitation standards within the company canteen.
  • Collaborate with the company nurse and Municipal Environmental Health Directorate to ensure periodic medical screening and certification of food handlers.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as required.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation by-laws and environmental regulations.


Health & Safety Management

  • Conduct risk assessments across operations and facilities to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform routine health and safety inspections based on identified risks.
  • Analyze incident, accident, and illness reports to identify trends and propose preventive measures.
  • Develop and implement health and safety programs in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate activities of Health & Safety Committees across all company locations.
  • Organize and deliver training for employees, managers, and subcontractors on health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate regular toolbox meetings to promote workplace safety awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Provide continuous advice to management on health and safety improvements.


General Duties

  • Investigate and resolve environmental and safety-related complaints from employees and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree or HND in:
  • Environmental Management
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skill
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
