Job Description/Requirements
What You’ll Do:Â
- Assign, edit, and/or write 2-3 unique or trending stories per day
- Oversee a team of writers and the daily workflow of Mashable’s Social Good coverage
- Support the Mashable team’s overarching enterprise and service journalism with coaching for reporters and sensitivity reads for content across verticals
- Coaching, managing, and editing both Mashable staff writers and freelancers
- Maintaining an enterprise editorial calendar
- Working across the Mashable newsroom to ensure inclusive coverage in all sections
- Driving photo stories, videos, and other long-term projects and alternative storytelling formats
- Driving audience and click-through on our shoppable service journalism
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years writing experience, a body of work that should include coverage of social justice, intersectionality, accessibility, and DEI issues
- Service journalism and ecommerce experienceÂ
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
- Solid news writing skills and a critical eye
- Thorough, organized, and comfortable managing sensitive topic areas
- A self-starter as well as a great teammate
- Knowledge of digital, social, and tech spaces and industry
- Understands audience listening, including using trending and historical audience data to drive successful content plans
