ELECTRICAL RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Position: Electrical Reliability Engineer
Division / Department: Operations & Maintenance (OM)/Midstream (MID)/Gas Conditioning Plant (PGCP)
Location: Prestea, Western Region, Ghana (West Africa)
Report Directly to: Electrical Reliability Superintendent
OBJECTIVE:
The Electrical Reliability Engineer will be responsible for providing support with the identification and management of asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the gas conditioning plant and its operations.
The Electrical Reliability Engineer will contribute to ensuring the availability of assets and the overall reliability of the plant (equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, and safety/security systems) through good practices of monitoring and maintenance. This role is crucial in maintaining operational integrity and efficiency and reducing downtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE (OM)
- Ensure the reliability and maintainability of installations. Assist the Electrical Reliability Superintendent to adhere to the life cycle asset management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of assets:
- Power generation and distribution systems.
- Protection relays.
- Electrical control systems.
- Transformers.
- Motors and generators.
- Cooling systems.
- Instrumentation and control devices.
- Pumps and valves.
- Auxiliary power units.
- Flow meters.
- Emergency shutdown valves.
- Heaters.
- Fiber optic network.
- All other general electrical systems.
- Support with designing, developing, monitoring, and refining an asset maintenance plan that includes:
- Value-added predictive, proactive, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
- Ensure the optimum utilization of the CMMS.
- Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact the plant operations.
- Propose engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect the gas conditioning plant operations (capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues):
- Statistical process control.
- Reliability modeling and prediction.
- Fault tree analysis.
- Weibull analysis.
- Six Sigma (6σ) methodology.
- Root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
- Failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system (FRACAS).
- Work with the Operations Team to perform analysis of assets including:
- Asset utilization.
- Overall equipment effectiveness.
- Remaining
- useful life.
- Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability, and costs of assets.
- Execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance.
- For all activities that require a permit to work, prepare the supporting documentation.
- Maintain required regulatory documentation updated.
PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS
- Provide support with all Purchase and Service Order Agreements relating to the maintenance of the plant.
- Ensure materials are available for planned maintenance, overhauls, and mandatory inspections.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc in Electrical, Electromechanical, or Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 4+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry, specifically in gas conditioning
- plant, power plant, or NGL terminal management and reliability processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, EEOC guidelines, and other federal and local requirements.
