An international mining company in the Western Region, has urgent vacancies for a Chief Mine Geologist to be primarily responsible for running of the mine geology and grade control.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning and implementation of Grade Control drilling activities
- Produce Grade Control block models and oversee ore block designs
- Manage material tracking systems
- Ensure controls are in place to minimize dilution and ore losses during production
- Ensure geological mapping is carried out to aid the understanding of the geology of the deposits
- Reconcile Grade Control model to Survey Adjusted Mining Production
- Contribute to short-term mine plans
- Devise training and development programs for the mine geology team
- Contribute to and work within the Geology Department annual budget
- Actively look for ways to reduce cost and increase revenues
- Report monthly Grade Control physicals and costs
Qualification Required & Experience
- Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 7 years experience in mine geology
- Ability to develop geological interpretations of the mineralization through the implementation and supervision of in-pit Geological Mapping
- Strong background in Geostatistical mapping for Grade Control (MP3 Preferred)
- Solid knowledge of geology related QA/QC standards and methods
- Proficiency in geological and mining related software (Surpac, Micromine)
- Experience in geological databases (AcQuire)
- Good communication skills
