Job descriptions & requirements
As Aggregation Manager, you will lead the aggregation department to ensure efficient and effective execution of commercial operations. You will drive commodity aggregation, operational efficiency, process standardisation, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional coordination to ensure field teams deliver exceptional, farmer-centred service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Aggregation & Volume Delivery
- Own delivery of the seasonal purchase plan across all buying channels (hub buying, mobile buyers, aggregators) against the volume and channel-mix targets set by the company.
- Oversee the hub network, including hub site selection, opening and closure decisions, and the Hub Supervisor and Mobile Buyer structure.
- Ensure an increase in volume per hub rather than hub proliferation, and make timely calls on underperforming hubs using the hub performance assessment framework.
- Manage aggregator relationships (onboarding, performance, pricing within approved bands, quality compliance).
- Drive pre-season farmer engagement and market activation to secure supply ahead of each harvest window.
Quality Management
- Accountable for all intake meeting offtaker specifications, with aflatoxin and moisture as critical control points.
- Ensure testing protocols (LFD aflatoxin testing, moisture metering at field and hub level) are applied consistently, with calibrated equipment and documented results.
- Enforce moisture-adjusted pricing and rejection or segregation rules; minimise quality-related rejections and claims from buyers.
People Leadership & Management
- Take responsibility for transforming the aggregation team into a high-performing, target-driven function. This is a building role: you will set the structure, establish the disciplines, and raise the bar on what the team delivers.
- Set clear deliverables and KPIs for every member of the aggregation team; hold people accountable through regular reviews and direct feedback.
- Drive market intelligence in the field: build systems that give the business current visibility on buying prices, competitor activity, crop outlook and farmer supply intentions, and use that intelligence to improve buying decisions.
- Build buying systems for new crops and new channels; identify and develop the people who will run them. Build capability across the team through structured training, clear daily routines and SOP adherence; develop a successor pipeline for key roles.
Systems, Data & Reporting
- Ensure the daily, weekly and seasonal trackers (hub daily, field weekly, season performance tracker) are complete, accurate and on time.
- Provide the MD with a weekly performance report covering volume vs. target, quality, cost and key risks, plus a formal end-of-season review.
- Drive SOP development and compliance for core processes (buying, weighing, etc.).
Stakeholder Management, Compliance & Risk
- Manage relationships with district and local authorities, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with Ghana law and regulation, including produce and trading licences/levies, and food safety standards.
- Ensure health & safety standards at hubs, and buying points.
Strategy & Growth
- Contribute to multi-season expansion planning (new areas, channel mix, infrastructure) and the SMT business plan for Ghana.
- Identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements, and bring market intelligence (prices, competitor activity, crop outlook) to the MD.
Key Outputs
- Seasonal purchase plan delivered: volume vs. target by season and by channel.
- Quality-adjusted intake: percentage of volume meeting offtaker spec, with minimal rejections and claims.
- A transformed aggregation team; clear structure in place, roles defined, performance culture established, and measurable improvement in team capability by end of first season.
- Market intelligence system operational; buying prices, competitor activity and crop outlook tracked consistently, with field data feeding into buying decisions each week.
- Buying cost per MT within budget.
- Stock losses and weight variance within agreed tolerance; clean stock reconciliations.
- A fully staffed, trained aggregation team with documented objectives and completed performance reviews.
- Core SOPs documented, rolled out and adhered to.
- Weekly performance reporting and an end-of-season review with lessons learned and recommendations for the next season.
- Pre-season plan (hubs, staffing, budget, farmer engagement calendar) approved no later than [6 weeks] before season start.
- Zero material compliance breaches
About You
- Degree in Business, Sales, Agriculture, Operations, or related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, purchasing, process improvement, or commercial operations.
- Familiarity with community engagement strategies and farmer outreach.
- Exceptional organisational and coordination skills to manage complex, multi-district operations.
- A genuine can-do attitude; you see a target and you work out how to hit it. You do not wait to be told how.
- Direct managerial experience, including leading and transforming teams in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
- A problem-solving instinct; when things do not go to plan, you diagnose, adapt and find a way through rather than escalating the problem up.
- Relentless focus on delivery; you set yourself targets, you track your own progress, and you are not satisfied until the numbers are met. Flexibility to work varied hours as business demands, including weekends during peak season.
