Job Title: Technical Specialist-HMS

Reporting Line: Senior Maintenance Supervisor for HMS & Drill

Location: Mantrac Ahafo North MARC Site

Duties/Responsibilities

Technical Support & Diagnostics

• Provide advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting support on CAT heavy equipment, especially shovels.
• Support field service and workshop technicians in resolving complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Utilize Caterpillar Electronic Technician (CAT ET), Service Information System (SIS), and other approved diagnostic tools to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Liaise with Caterpillar Technical Communicators and Mantrac Engineering teams to resolve recurring, high-impact, or complex technical issues.

Equipment Performance & Reliability

• Monitor machine performance data to identify trends, failures, or early warning signs of major issues.
• Recommend and implement technical improvements or updates to enhance machine reliability and reduce downtime.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to technicians to enhance diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair capabilities on CAT machines.
• Conduct technical training sessions and practical demonstrations on key systems and components.
• Share technical bulletins, service updates, and best practices across teams to promote continuous improvement and standardization

Customer Support & Reporting

• Provide onsite technical support to customers, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and confidence in Mantrac’s service capability.
• Prepare detailed service reports, root cause analyses, and technical recommendations following major interventions.

• Support warranty claim preparation and ensure compliance with Caterpillar warranty guidelines

Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent technical skills and good time management skills
• Good IT skills
• Must be able to work in a noisy and dusty environment
• Should be able to work longer hours, including weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of MVT/MET/EET/HND or BSc. Mechanical/Agricultural/Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of three (3) years post-qualification experience in heavy-duty earthmoving mining and construction machinery.
• Must have a Ghanaian driver’s license B/E.
• Knowledge and Experience in Caterpillar tracked equipment and mechanical systems.
• A good knowledge of CAT, ET, and SIS is essential.
