Job Summary

A premier Art Foundation based in Accra and Wa is seeking to recruit a Programme Manager for their Wa operations. The ideal candidate would be responsible for development and implementation of ideas and programmes that will positively impact the livelihood of our main stakeholders- weavers and their community and will involve participation of artists, cultural leaders, educational, state and local agencies in Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities consist of the following:

  • Contribute to the development of Foundation's strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of its Upper West Operations- specifically in Wa, Nadowli and Nandom.
  • Liaise with Director to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
  • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Director informed of all critical issues.
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress
  • Regularly evaluate the efficiency of internal procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
  • Initiate and manage relationships or agreements with external partners and the community
  • Maintain office and organization records
  • Keep accounting and financial records
  • Responsible for legal and regulatory compliance including identifying relevant legislation and ensuring compliance through appropriated documentation or procedures.

This also includes:

  • Research and consultation with subject specialists to ensure exhibitions, programmes and festival engage with new and existing audiences, traditional authorities and custodians, municipal and state agencies and educational institutions
  • Work closely with the Director and management team to ensure effective use of funds and other resources and work to deliver all activities on time, within agreed budgets and to a high standard
  • Work closely with all team members to ensure detailed information is provided in good time for planning
  • Assist in the writing bids for proposals and the promotion of the Foundation
  • To make a lively contribution to the Foundation’s programme of activities and events in Wa, with research of the existing ecosystem, looking at trends and happenings that are relevant, and will support and develop our community and patrons.
  • Devise a lively structure of public engagement programmes to bring appreciation to cultural goods and services in Wa, Nadowli and Nandom.
  • Work closely with our stakeholders- weavers, community leaders, municipal agencies, schools to ensure our interventions with them are effective and beneficial.
  • Maintain a good relationship with networks and suggest new ones that will be beneficial to the Foundation’s work and those of our stakeholders.
  • Manage staff, interns, apprentices and volunteers in the co-ordination of specific commissions, projects
  • To ensure that the Foundation’s policies and procedures relating to health and safety and risk assessments are adhered to.
  • Ensure all statutory licenses and interim and evaluation reports and accounts are made available internally and submitted in a timely fashion.


General Responsibilities:

  • To undertake duties pro-actively and work in accordance with the Foundation policies, aims and objectives- this may include travel.
  • To maintain confidentiality in agreements and to conduct yourself in a professional manner during the course of your duties.
  • To demonstrate a willingness to undertake training as required for the development of the post and enhancement of the Foundation’s skill base.
  • To work closely with colleagues with a positive team attitude
  • To engage with staff, clients, and partners of the Foundation in a positive and constructive manner
  • To attend staff and other Foundation meetings- some meetings and training may be held outside of normal office hours, including occasional evening and weekend activities.
  • To lead by example


Requirements: 

  • 3 years experience in a similar capacity
  • The ideal candidate should also be required to include appropriate evaluation frameworks to ensure targets are achieved.
  • He/She will be based in Wa and will report to the Director.
  • As Wa remains the focus, it is vital for the candidate to understand and anticipate the peculiarity of the region and cultural anchors- weaving- that drive it and the connections to the sub-region.
  • He/She will need to be a proactive, hands-on individual establishing effective relationships and partnerships within the ecosystem in a bid to achieve our stated goals.
  • It is essential that as post holder, you possess a communication flair that complements the ethos of the Foundation - effective, simple, open and accessible.

Salary Range: GHc 3,000 - 4,000
