About Us
Our client is a fast-growing Investment Management firm with a 10-year+ track record of consistent
market out-performance and assets under management (AuM) of approximately GHS 300m. The client
is looking for a highly driven, experienced professional to lead its investment management team. The
company is currently recruiting to achieve their long-term vision of building a diversified portfolio
management business across pensions, retail and private wealth assets. The client has a focus of
managing both local and global assets across different classes, currencies and structures. The firm is
registered as a Fund Manager with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the National Pensions
Regulatory Authority.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly driven individual with sharp analytical, finance/portfolio management and
team leadership skills to lead our investment management function. The successful candidate will have 8
- 10 years’ experience working in investment banking (buy and sell side), finance or similar role. The
candidate should have experience managing people and leading portfolio discussions at the Investment
Committee and Board levels. The role reports directly to the CEO. The candidate will ideally have
investment qualifications and client engagement skills. The successful candidate will lead the team and
oversee other functional units of the investment management business.
Responsibilities
● Lead the investment management team, reporting directly to the CEO
● Implement management’s strategic focus areas, helping to execute ideas and projects at a fast
pace
● Oversee the company’s investment portfolios, including pensions, collective investment schemes
and other client funds, managing all firm AuM in aggregate with an optimal strategy
● Lead investment analyses across different asset classes with a view to determining the value of
securities and recommending same to the Investment Committee and trustees for decision-making
● Lead all client engagement, ensuring that there is a systematic approach to engagement and
feedback
● Evaluate the performance of investment portfolios and ensure compliance with standards provided
by regulatory organizations, including conformance with investor disclosures, privacy laws, anti-
money laundering requirements, and anti-fraud measures.
● Perform periodic attribution analysis as a way of benchmarking the success or otherwise of the
decision-making process
● Engage with the investment ecosystem, representing the firm’s interest at all times. Such
engagements will include conferences, training programmes, trade execution for portfolios,
managing banking and 3rd party relationships exhibitions etc.
● Train junior members of the team
● Other duties on an incidental basis
Qualifications
● Completion of the Ghana Securities Industry Course (this is a stringent requirement)
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Actuarial Science/ Economics/Accounting or similar degree
● Master’s degree in Investment or finance-related field or CFA / ACCA/ CISI qualifications at level II or
higher
● Minimum 8- 10 years’ experience in a similar role
● Demonstrable financial modelling skills and or FMVA qualification is required
Required Skillset
● Detailed understanding of capital markets with a high interest in and enthusiasm for economic
and financial market trends
● Proficient in various financial management software, such as Bloomberg and Investment
Management platforms
● Excellent analytical skills for finance and data analysis in general
● Proficiency in financial modeling tools like MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
● Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
● Creative problem-solving skills
● Comprehensive experience in research methodology for financial markets
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong organisational and follow-up skills
● Ability to spot, analyse, and solve problems proactively
● Ability to work independently, but also team-oriented
● Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
● Tech savvy and open to innovative solutions for finance
● Highly organized and detail-oriented.
