Underwriting Officer

Qualification: Minimum of 1st Degree

 

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ Experience in similar role

Role Reporting Line: Unit Head, New Business

 

Start Date: September 2024

 

Brief Job Description:

• Assess the risk and exposures of potential clients by examining medical reports, financial information, and

• other relevant documents.

• Decide on the amount of coverage and premiums based on the risk assessment.

• Utilize specialized software to assist in making decisions about whether to accept or reject applications.

• Work with field representatives, medical personnel, actuaries, and other professionals to gather additional

• information and insights.

• Ensure that all policies and procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain and update client files, including paperwork, handling policy renewals, and keeping detailed records.

• Prepare and present detailed reports on underwriting activities and results.

 

Key Functional Skills:

·       Strong ability to Analyse complex information and make informed decisions.

·       Keen attention to detail to accurately assess risk and determine appropriate coverage.

·       Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, agents, and other professionals.

·       Deep understanding of life insurance policies, regulations, and risk assessment techniques
