About the Role
The Speech Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting and facilitating the Ghana Speech on Wheels-Dream Project. He/she will lead the planning, coordination, implementation and follow-up of speech project’s initiatives, while providing support to other programs. This person is responsible for supporting and working in partnership with the Ghana team, specifically the M&E Coordinator, to find innovative and sustainable solutions that increase access to speech care for the Ghanaian population.

Essential Functions:
- Work closely with Our client's team to implement the Speech on Wheel-Dream Project in Ghana, involving additional stakeholders and partners, both public and private.
- Support in broader healthcare systems analyses in Ghana to ensure integration of Speech on Wheels-Dream Project and how to plan and sequence new initiatives.
- Work with all parties to support the Speech on Wheels – Dream Project with a needs-based approach. Goals and challenges need to be constantly identified in all parts of the system and solutions developed and implemented with clear action plans.
- Work with Ghana Office to deliver projects targets, adhere to project terms and agreements and implement project’s sustainability plans.
- Work in collaboration with Our Client's Education Department and Speech Council for the recruitment and placement of international visiting lecturers, rotation staff members and other placements in Ghana as is needed.
- Promote development of comprehensive care aspects for Ghana ensuring integration and cross collaboration of cleft care providers both at academic institutions and implementing hospital partner sites.
- Promote relationship development with university and foundation partners to engage in research projects and ensure visibility of project impact and learnings.
- Coordinate and support the development of training materials and curricula for speech therapy services, adapting them to the local context and needs
- Promote professional opportunities for speech therapy experts working in all treatment tiers. This includes educational opportunities, participation in local and international missions, and leadership roles for medical professionals.
- Support foundations to build local volunteer base and provide continuous education and training opportunities.
- Support partner hospitals in management and maintenance of equipment and supply chain to ensure efficient and quality care delivery for patients throughout the year. Coordinate community-based training, and outreach initiatives to support patientcare delivery. This includes logistics for patients, care providers and support teams.
- Prepare and submit detailed programmatic reports on the Speech-on Wheels project to relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Health, donors, and key stakeholders.These reports should highlight progress, challenges, outcomes, and recommendations, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals and requirements.
- Ensure the judicious use of organizational resources to maximize efficiency and impact across all program activities. This includes monitoring expenditures, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing cost effective strategies that align with the project’s objectives and financial guidelines.
- Work in collaboration with Ghana team for patient management systems to ensure longitudinal care delivery and outcomes reporting.
- Document and disseminate lessons learned and best practices to enhance program effectiveness and contribute to the broader knowledge base.
Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Refine and strengthen the 5-year strategic plan for speech therapy projects as part of overall country strategy while working closely with each department for the implementation thereof.
- Work with Ghana Country Manager and Program Manager to build University and NGO partnerships and further collaboration opportunities.
- Continuously seek out further training, education, and collaborative opportunities with all partners in order to build local healthcare professional and volunteer teams.
- Support the development of proposals and fundraising efforts to secure additional resources for the continuation and scaling of the project.
- Provide strategic guidance to the Ghana Country Office in developing innovative and sustainable approaches to continue speech therapy activities and initiatives beyond the current funding period, ensuring the longevity and impact of the Speech-on-Wheels project. Work in collaboration with Advocacy and Policy Department, MOH and GHS to ensure Speech Language Therapy services can also be offered through NHIS and/or other sustainable ways.
Communication and Collaboration
- Provide support and maintain communication with the Ghana country team, regional support team and local partners during the planning, execution, and follow-up phases of programs.
- Ensure Global Standards of Care are communicated to all parties involved and prioritize safe, successful programming and facilitation at all times.
- Support and ensure constructive communication between Headquarters, the Foundation and the DREAM PROJECT teams.
- Ensure clear communication with the Education Department for planning, support, and implementation of training events.
Business Operations
- Work with Country Manager, Finance Manager and Program Manager on creating and overseeing relevant budgets.
- Support the development and implementation of training materials, policies and procedures.
- Provide statistical and qualitative reports of relevant data to Our Client's personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, donor requirements, and local regulations throughout the project’s implementation
Requirements
· Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in: Nursing, Public Health, Health Planning and implementation, Non-profit Management, or a related field. A master’s degree in the field will be advantageous.
- Prior experience in implementing similar community-based rehabilitative care projects is highly desirable. 2+ years of program/project experience.
- Work experience in an international NGO context
- Work experience within the Ghanaian health sector
· Skills:
- Excellent oral and written English communication.
- Ability to speak at least two Ghanaian Languages in project regions – Twi, Ewe, Dagbani
- Ability to be On-call (Able to respond to phone calls or e-mails outside of regular work hours.)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Approachable personality with the ability to manage stress and communicate needs appropriately.
- Must be a motivated individual with a proven ability to lead, coordinate, and facilitate projects and teams.
- Must be able to handle issues with diplomacy, tact and cultural sensitivity.
