Are you a dedicated and skilled nurse looking to take on an exciting challenge in a unique, remote setting? We are seeking a passionate and experienced School nurse to join our Medical team in Kenyasi.
The School Nurse shall provide comprehensive health services to promote the well-being and safety of students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Health Care
- Provide emergency and routine medical care.
- Provide first aid, emergency care, and crisis intervention for acute illness and injury.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans for students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, epilepsy).
- Administer, store, and document prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
- Manage and prevent communicable diseases through surveillance, immunization compliance checks, and infection control protocols.
Health Promotion & Health Education
- Develop and deliver evidence-based health education sessions for students on topics including nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.
- Provide health education and training for school staff on recognizing health concerns, managing emergencies (e.g., anaphylaxis, seizure), and supporting student well-being.
- Promote a healthy school environment through wellness initiatives.
Medical Administration
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and secure health records for all students, in compliance with relevant data protection laws.
- Complete and submit required health reports.
- Ensure the school clinic is stocked, organized, and equipped with necessary supplies and functional emergency equipment.
- Review and assist in updating school health policies, including emergency preparedness and response plans.
4. Coordination & Collaboration
- Act as the primary health liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers.
- Coordinate referrals to external healthcare providers through the site clinic and ensure follow-up.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license and certified by the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Council.
· Basic life Support, Advance Cardiovascular life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support certification with AHA
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience after permanent registration, prior experience in emergency care will be preferred.
- Experience in Child and adolescent health is a clear advantage
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
