About The Role
- This is a Fixed Term Position until 31st December 2025*
The role involves carrying out bituminous spray sealing, line marking, and road maintenance tasks using various equipment and processes under general supervision. It includes manual labour and requires compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures. After-hours emergency response and overtime are expected, with possible travel within Victoria for broader emergency situations. The position is mainly based in Bendigo, Benalla, or Geelong, but work may occasionally be required in other locations. Standard working hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, but shifts outside these hours, including weekends, public holidays, and nights, may be necessary, with occasional overnight travel.

As a key member of the SRS Surfacing Delivery team, you will promote a safety-focused and inclusive work environment, contribute to the timely and cost-effective delivery of spray sealing and line marking services, and uphold the VPS code of conduct. You will foster positive behaviours, provide after-hours emergency response across Victoria, and support continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning is hiring a Road Worker for the Surfacing Delivery team, based in Bendigo, Benalla, or Geelong. The role involves performing bituminous spray sealing, line marking, and road maintenance tasks, adhering to safety and quality standards. Key duties include problem-solving, supporting emergency response across Victoria, and contributing to team development. Flexibility for after-hours work and occasional travel is required.

Qualifications And Experience
Mandatory
- Current Victorian Drivers licence
- Current Medium Rigid truck licence
- Civil Construction Safety Induction Card, Traffic Management Ticket, 1st Aid certificate and HR license.
- Construction Induction White Card
- Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
