Job Description/Requirements

Duties

The selected stores manager will be in charge of everything that goes in and out of the furniture store. 

The Stores manager will be responsible for the inventory, as well as contacting the manufacturers for new or additional fixtures. 

The store’s manager will handle all aspects of placing and receiving orders from our foreign suppliers in Europe. Also responsible for dealing with returns and exchanges, as well as appease the customers who are returning defective or broken goods. 

The store’s manager is responsible for gaining profit for the store. Responsible for devising marketing strategies and plans in order to reach the monthly goals and yearly quotas. 

Also responsible for creating promotional plans, putting the furniture and fixtures on sale. The store’s manager is responsible for signing paperwork for the employees’ commission. The store’s manager is also in charge of scouting for projects for the organization's business development. 

He/she is also responsible for the general outlook and maintenance of the showroom. The store’s manager is expected to provide relevant training for all sales associates on how to close sales and deals with customers.

Typical responsibilities of the job include:

  • Providing strategic focus for the business

  • Devising profitable business plans 

  • Ability to understand and deploy competitive marketing tools for business success and survival

  • Recruiting, training, supervising and appraising staff

  • Managing budgets

  • Maintaining statistical and financial records

  • Dealing with customer queries and complaints

  • Overseeing pricing and stock control

  • Maximizing profitability and setting/meeting sales targets, 

  • Including motivating staff to do so

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation

  • Preparing promotional materials and displays

  • Liaising with all managers, CEO and board members.

  • Competitive pricing 


    Education and Training Requirements

    • Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or any other related field. 

    • MBA and professional qualifications are an added advantage.

    • Successful individual must have not less than 15 years in retail and not less than 5 years in senior management position.

    Working Conditions

    The stores’ manager is required to usually work for a standard of forty (40) hours a week including weekends. When necessary, he/she might need to come to work during Sundays and holidays. Also, he might need to work longer hours when waiting for a shipment of furniture. May need to attend meetings outside the store to be able to coordinate tenders and projects.
