Job purpose


Joining SLR Consulting as a Team Lead in Accra means stepping into a dynamic, globally connected team that values innovation, professional growth, and environmental responsibility. As a leader, you’ll play a key role in shaping the direction of projects in Ghana, overseeing a talented team of consultants, and engaging directly with both local and international clients. This role is ideal for candidates with a passion for sustainability and a desire to make a meaningful difference while working in one of the world’s most inspiring locations. Relocation to Ghana is a possibility.


Job Requirement


The successful candidate must be a self-starter and team player who can work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail, cost and quality controls. You will be expected to demonstrate compliance to company policies and procedures, legislative requirements and act as a role model for SLR values and behaviours. You will be required to play a key technical leadership role within the Planning and Assessment service line, including project management, financial management, resource management and management of technical and commercial risk. In this role you will be expected to excel in business development locally and within Africa, either for stand-alone opportunities, or in conjunction with other SLR service lines.


Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years relevant working experience in environmental consultancy environment, with at least 5 years of that being in a senior role managing projects. Work experience in Africa is essential. Experience of working in Ghana or West-Africa would be beneficial, although not a prerequisite.
  • Experience in the extractive industries such as mining and oil and gas would be beneficial but not a prerequisite.
  • Must be able to proactively define and articulate environmental impacts through well written reports. Demonstrate working on large ESIA projects for a range of sectors.
  • Must have a sound knowledge of international best practice approaches, including the IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
  • Must have the ability to source new work and demonstrate experience in developing and compiling technical and financial proposals.
  • Proven ability of business development and being able to network with clients.
  • Must be able to manage projects or components of projects, take responsibility for resource allocation, liaise with clients, specialists and authorities, manage quality assurance/client feedback and ensure he/she meets budgetary, quality, safety and timeframe targets, while exceeding client expectations.
  • Must have experience in document and report reviews and be able to identify gaps in own and others’ work and take necessary preventative or remedial action.
  • Must hold a BSc and or MSc in Environmental Science, Environmental engineering or other related degree.
  • Must be fully conversant in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience in supervising project team(s) and coaching and mentoring more junior staff.
  • Must have excellent communication and report writing skills and be confident to liaise with clients, stakeholders and authorities. Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking) and ability to converse in French is required. Competency in other African languages is considered an advantage.
  • Applicants have a driver’s licence, a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally within Africa.
