Job Description/Requirements

Main Objective:

  • Provide legal support and advice to the management on relevant legal issues
  • Represent the company on all legal issues
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and legal documents in all business transactions
  • Provide company secretarial services and ensure proper recordings of the board deliberations


Responsibilities

As part of the responsibilities, the Legal Officer is required to:

  • Ensure compliance of agreements executed with third parties
  • Collaborate with management to devise efficient legal strategies
  • Review and provide legal advice on contracts, agreements, tender documents and MOUs
  • Liaise with relevant departments within the organization to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken
  • Review and advice management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures
  • Review progress of outstanding litigations and liaise with external lawyers where the need be
  • Formulate legal compliance check-list for all the relevant departments to be used for the purpose of ensuring that all information required is provided accordingly
  • Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations in the country and advise management accordingly
  • Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff
  • Ensure that the company’s interests are properly represented at all levels by playing a positive role in all appropriate committees, working group and forum
  • Perform any other legal work assigned to him/her by the board or Managing Director

Qualification & Experience:

  • Law degree, Master’s degree in law is a plus
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a law firm or as a Legal Officer/Legal Counsel
  • Excellent Knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
