A reputable International School that runs the Cambridge Curriculum is looking for an adequately qualified individual to Head its Preschool department. As a Head of the Department, you will have first-line responsibility for leading the department to achieve its goals.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain teaching timetables, and ensure teachers report regularly and promptly for duties.
  • To draw up curriculum plans across the setting which will ensure that each child is working towards the outcomes of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the preschool curriculum through its delivery working towards and promoting a setting that is socially inclusive and environmentally responsible.
  • Refer all new changes to Academic Management for approval and implementation.
  • Set broad sectional goals and ensure learners meet their learning objectives.
  • Observe lessons and suggest training support for teachers where necessary.
  • Oversee the department’s day-to-day operations - disciplinary matters, managing the budget of the section and advise on hiring teachers and other personnel in the section.
  • Work directly and transparently with parents/guardians to ensure the success and welfare of pupils.
  • Create and sustain a safe environment for teaching and learning.
  • In line with the school’s policies, oversee the implementation of pastoral care in the section.
  • Ensure positive public relations with the outside world.
  • Organize and oversee all forms of school orientations in the section: new pupils, new staff, and new parents.
  • Conduct teacher and staff evaluations and advise on promotions and disciplinary measures for staff.
  • Present reports, documents and other findings related to the management and success of the section on a regular basis.
  • Attend management meetings and make contributions that support the growth of the department and the school in general.
  • Work towards realizing the vision and mission of the school.
  • To ensure that relevant records are regularly updated and maintained – this includes the daily attendance register and accident book. This also includes keeping the policies and procedures of the Preschool updated and implementing them in line with current regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood education.
  • A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
  • Must have at least 4 years of teaching experience 2 years of which must be in an international school.
  • Good computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft suite.
  • An in-depth understanding of Cambridge Education.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
