Job Description/Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

Accounting & Financial Management:

• Lead and oversee the preparation and development of financial plans, budgets and forecasts, with line managers and management. Analyze and report on variances between actual performance and budget or forecast.

• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly closure of accounts.

• Assist in the preparation of audit reports and responses and assist in the implementation of accepted recommendations.

• Oversee the preparation of financial records related to general ledger, payroll, budget, expense, etc.

• Negotiate foreign exchange rates with the company’s banks.

• Review financial processes and procedures on an annual basis.

• Monitor and review expenditure against budgets on monthly, quarterly and annual basis by project.

• Ensure that accounting records and books of accounts are kept up to date and are in accordance with the company’s chart of accounts.

• Implement corporate investment plans and policies.

• Evaluate the existing accounting system and recommend improvement if required.


Administration, Human Resource and Development:

• Interview, hire and train new employees in finance and administration functions.

• Assist in resource identification, performance evaluation, and promotion decision activities.

• Oversee the management of office including lease arrangements and rent payments, property insurance and security arrangements.


Contribution to Strategy and Directions:

• Oversee the overall organizational performance and people development.

• Contribute to strategic planning and organizational management as a member of the management team.

• Support the Managing Director to develop and engage the Management team in the strategic growth and business expansion.

• Act as a role model to employees by always upholding the company’s values and policies.

• Create and maintain a value-based ethics across the company to ensure that the values, codes of conduct, policies and standards are understood clearly by all and adhered to in practice.


Reporting:

• The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director and Office Manager in Accra.


Required Knowledge Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in a business managerial role.

• Minimum of five (5) years’ progressive financial management experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

• MBA / MSc. / ACCA / ICA, a plus.


Language Requirement:

• Professional command in the English Language.

• Ability to provide independent advice (orally and written) to the Board of Directors on financial matters.

• Strong knowledge and skills in handling tax issues.

• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of financial systems.

• Strong analytical and computer skills – spreadsheets and financial analysis.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

• Strong presentation skills to convey concepts and information.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Strong knowledge of the accounting and finance function.
