The Accounts Officer with Internal Audit Duties is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with internal audits to ensure the financial integrity of the organization. Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

 

Accounting:

 

  • Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and schedules as required for management review and decision-making.

Internal Audit:

 

  • Audit Assistance: Assist in conducting internal audits, including gathering data, performing tests, and documenting findings.
  • Control Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and procedures, identifying any weaknesses or areas for improvement.
  • Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessments to identify and assess potential financial and operational risks.
  • Recommendations: Prepare audit reports and recommendations to address identified control deficiencies and risks.

Additional Duties:

 

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and support internal audit activities.

 

Qualifications and skills:

  • Education: a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in accounting or a similar role, with exposure to internal audits preferred.
  • Skills: strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices; proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); excellent attention to detail; and good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Personal attributes: high level of integrity, strong work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
