  • Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. Provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Establish new accounts and services accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule
  • Prepare cost estimates and proposals by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with engineers and other professional and technical personnel
  • Determine improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment; engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services
  • Gain customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions, operations improvements, and innovation
  • Submit orders by conferring with technical support staff; costing engineering changes
  • Provide pre-sales and after-sales support
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions
  • Develop customer's staff by providing technical information and training
  • Comply with state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customer on product, service, or equipment adherence to requirements; advising customer on needed actions
  • Prepare sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Contribute to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers
  • Help in developing new products and services
  • Assist colleagues with bids and tenders for new clients from a technical perspective
  • Provide advice and support on a range of products, for which a certain level of expertise is needed

Qualification and Requirements

  • A degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/Environmental Engineering
  • Knowledge in water and wastewater treatment in commercial and industrial settings
  • Membership or affiliation to a professional body will be an advantage
  • An additional qualification or demonstration of competence in Sales and Marketing will be an advantage
  • Must have at least Two (2) years working experience in sales
  • Competent in the use of drafting software (e.g. AutoCAD, Sketch Up), Project Management software, Microsoft Office suite and Google apps for storage and document processing
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work outside prescribed working hours
  • Must be willing to travel across the country and West Africa
  • Ample experience in Civil and Electromechanical installations (2 yrs + post-graduation)
  • Must have the ability to gain technical product knowledge within a short period
  • Maintain high standard of personal presentation
  • Represent company in a professional manner at all times
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects pursued by management of the company
