Job Description

The company is an education-focused NGO based in Ho, Ghana that strives to empower youth to be socially responsible citizens and leaders within the community. Through our programs, we seek to improve and create more opportunities for young people in the Volta region whilst assisting in community development projects.

This program is designed to equip youth to intelligently face life’s challenges.

ROLE SPECIFICATION: PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Reports to: Program Director (Directly) and Executive Director

Job Summary:
Coordinate All staff, students, volunteers, and stakeholders, and programs and activities in which the organization engages. The Program Coordinator is responsible for most daily program activities, maintaining regular communication with senior management and supervising project assets and the project team.

Staff Management 15%   Work with Program Director and staff to ensure positive orientation and support for new and ongoing members of the organization. Organize and Coordinate training programs to help update skills, technical abilities and professional knowledge. Ensure all staff write weekly reports Work with mentors to conduct regular and meaningful reviews and evaluations. Work with Program Director to ensure all works meet legal parameters and organizational goals.

Office Management 15%

Provide reports at least twice weekly by phone and weekly written updates to the Program Director and Executive Director to review progress and issues that arise with programs, students, staff and communities.Work with Program Director and Administrator to submit monthly budgets, spending reports and track expenditures working within set budgets.Ensure and supervise appropriate staff to ensure all key NGO documentation are kept up-to-date and in order.Work with Program Director to organize board meeting dates and agendas, keep minutes, and communicate with board members following company  protocol Guide staff to ensure all resources are used effectively, to create strong systems, and to ensure all policies have been signed and understood by all team members 


Youth Engagement 30%

 Manage and work with Program Director to develop our Path to Success  and mentorship program with Youth and Community Development Officer to build on leadership, personal and professional skills for

Path to Success students.

Support Youth and Community Development Officer to develop, monitor and assess goals for each Scholar so they are successful in the program, in their school work and subsequent to graduating from school.Organize mentors to ensure work evaluations are submitted for each student for each vacation/work period. Maintain direct contact with schools and parents to assure best possible educational experience. Ensure that students are meeting with mentors, setting goals and action plans, and teach them to monitor their plans to assure progress.


Fundraising and Collaborations 10%

Ensure the Ghana team communicate effectively with US team to send across all necessary materials (photos, videos, testimonials) for marketing, PR and fund-raising for weekly postings and annual reporting. Manage the company social media and maintain a strong online presence through Facebook and the organization's website (blogs, updates, testimonials, etc.) Create and prepare imaginative and effective fundraising strategies that educate and engage the public.Work with Program Director to seek and apply for new grants and funding opportunities Community Outreach. 



Engagement 15% 

Work with Program Director to develop appropriate community partnerships and collaborations, and provide feedback to the Executive Director and Board.  Develop and maintain partnerships with other NGOs and businesses to help forward organization's mission.Work closely with Youth and Community Development manager to strategize means for stakeholders to maximize learning and take an active part in their own community development.


Monitoring and Evaluation 15%

 Work with Program Director and Executive Manager to establish or identify suitable indicators for company programs Oversee Youth and Community Development Officer to effectively track all data Monitor and ensure accurate program progress reports are being collected and sent monthly and termly Evaluate data and impacts made and submit input for program improvements to Program and Executive Director.


Qualification and Requirements
Minimum of a degree in development studies, social science and its equivalence At least 3 years of work experience High level communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.  Be proficient using computers and file management/SharePoint and Office 365 suite of programs. Strong interpersonal and people skills. Strong planning skills Ability to appreciate gender, cultural and ethnic diversity Sensitive to context, local environments our staff and students come from, local dynamics that drive conflict and division, and power imbalances
