He/She will be reporting to the Subsea 7 Volta Contractors’ Managing Director Interface with on-going Projects under execution until the project completion Provide operational support to assets and projects, for: transit, shipping, Logistics support, diving operations, husbandry, purchase and sourcing, fabrications Manage the fabrication site team Ensure that Company is in line with governmental authorities to Operate in Takoradi and in Ghanaian Waters Interface with Client and subcontractor as required on site on all operational issues Interface with on-going tenders to support logistic requirements (including costing) His main role remains to make a proper coordination of all existing operations and logistics activities within Takoradi onshore and offshore vicinity

Job Title: Operations Manager (Contract)

Job Location: Takoradi, Western Region

Job Description

  • Functions as a Safety and Values champion as seen by the team and the client
  • Oversees site development, tracking progress and observing and reporting site safety status to project
  • Interfaces with the project packages to deliver results in a coordinated and seamless way
  • Encourages open communication within the team 
  • Develops the project operational plan with Project Operations Manager in order to improve the result in collaboration with the relevant Country and Project Teams
  • Support day-to-day onshore and offshore operations including all logistic aspects
  • Input as required to any daily, weekly and monthly reports to Project office and/or Client
  • Attend and actively participate in onshore Kick Off, Readiness Review, Risk assessment and regularly occurring meetings
  • Follows the performance of each discipline and identifies bottlenecks, performance issues, as well as notably good performance
  • Acts to relieve bottlenecks, improve performance and reward and recognise good performance
  • Provides deliverables and reports on time
  • Works to ensure that relations with suppliers, ships, and in-country team are positive and constructive, bonding them to our extended team of delivery
  • Maintains a positive and constructive relationship with the client
  • Sets up logistics, communications, housing, and office unit arrangements in collaboration with the Project Manager, Project Operations Manager, Project SCM Manager, and Cost Control Lead
  • Applies the project Interface Procedure in collaboration with the Project Interface Manager, communicating timely and professionally with all affected stakeholders


  • Ensures that the pre-qualification of Suppliers/Subcontractors in reference to quality, safety records and performance evaluation is carried out under the guidance of SCM
  • Support site QC team as required
  • Interface with project Quality Advisor as required


  • Promote Subsea 7 HSSE culture throughout all phases of onshore and offshore works
  • Ensure best HSSE practice is applied during the operations
  • Monitor the work during execution to ensure HSSE compliance with agreed systems and processes
  • Stop any work that is deemed to be unsafe


  • Operate within the Subsea 7 Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7’s Management Principles (Vision & Values)
  • Support standards and procedures for the Operations Administration Function

Qualification and Requirements

  • At least 5 years and above Oil and Gas experience
  • At least 10 years and above overall experience
  • Subsea Engineering background
  • Offshore operations experience is an added advantage
  • Logistics experience
  • Site supervision experience
  • Good knowledge of Country administrative rules and Laws
  • Skilled in multicultural personnel management
  • Good communication skills with individuals and groups
